Fellow Chrysler enthusiasts,

I passed a slab C-body the other day in traffic. What caught my eye was what appeared to be 2 long bars on the top of the rear fenders, one on each side. I'm not sure what it was, but if a luggage rack, something I'm not familiar with. I've seen roof mount, as well as the conventional dozen or so bars that bolt to the trunk, but could use some help identifying what they are, & if they are factory.
Anyone ever seen these before?

Ahoy, I like the look and think it would do well on my asphalt schooner.

If you can't fit all your luggage in the trunk of your slab you need to travel lighter. :)

I'm guessing that was a JC Whitney option. I have never seen it on an accessory package from the dealership and definitely not a factory option.

No Kidding. You can fit a family of 4 comfortably in the trunk with a cooler couch and TV! Thanks for the response.

Maybe the owner has a mobility issue and needs the bars to get to the trunk where the wheel chair is stored...

Chrysler parts

Here’s a pair,..not sure of the year on these.

Need them? I think I have the roof rack too.

Those are rear grab handles for a 65-68 C-body wagon....should be the same for Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth.

What is the purpose of the grab handles? Is it to assist passenger loading in a rear facing seat? To give the roof rack loader something to hold onto? A rare option for a skateboarding family?

Hahahaha....skateboard family....never thought of them for that use.

To the best of my knowledge the grab handles were mostly paired with the 9 passenger/rear facing seat option, and a lot of the time they also optioned for the rear steps on the bumper as well to help access to the rear seat area.

I love the look of the rear grab handles and put a set on my 6 pass 68 T/C wagon since it did not have them from the factory. :D
