Hi All,

66 Imperial 'vert.

What is the build date from this fender tag? I decode it as April 22, 1966. Am I correct?

Thanks in advance.

Hard to read Ross but I think it's the 815 probably August 15.

Really? I thought it was the first three numbers BELOW the SQ letters.

422

I got that off various decoder sites... just looking for confirmation.

If you're correct, then it's what I'm looking for. If I'm correct, then it's too late a build date.

Beware that it's "Scheduled Date" (SD), meaning that it's the date on which the car was scheduled to be assembled when the order was processed.
But in reality the car might have been built a few days later, depending on the backlog of the assembly line.

But granted it's the closest thing you'll get to the actual date.

Understood. Thanks!

If it's a '66, Chrysler Historical can get you the IBM card for it, possibly the dealers name (I got 3 out of 4 dealers names for the cars I submitted), and it's free. I found out my '66 Polara 500 was shipped five days prior to the build date.

I would like the IBM cards for my '66 Imps.please tell me more. Thanks

Vehicle Information from Chrysler for vehicle built before 1968.

FCA LLC does have some information available on vehicles built before 1968. Be sure to include the VIN of the car in question and proof of ownership (a copy of the title, for example), a self-addressed stamped envelope and a check made payable to FCA LLC. If your build record is not on file, they will return your check. As of 1/15/2017, the cost was ~ $45 per VIN requested. Please allow a couple of weeks or so and you will have a valuable piece of your car's documentation.

Please contact Historical Services at that time for such information and materials as: Owner and service manuals: 1915 - 1990 Photographs Production numbers Build records: U.S.-built trucks from 1930 - 1950 U.S.-built cars from 1930 - 1967 Note: 1. The Historical Services does not have build records relating to Jeep®, AMC or Canadian-built vehicles. 2. Production Data (IBM) cards - Copies of IBM cards for vehicle from 1967 and older: There is a fee for three photocopies, and you can only get strictly limited information from the card, not even decoding of the data plate. Here's the current info I found. It's free, but they don't do any decoding services. They simply tell you the dealers name (if they have the dealers code on file, they don't always have them), and include a picture of the IBM punch card.

So what Ross posted is no longer correct, other than the address and fax number. I wish it was, it would be nice to have an official breakdown.

This is what I got for each car I requested information for.

Chrysler Historical may have the IBM build card for your 1966 Imperial. After all, the blurb says they do not have information on Canadian BUILT cars, which would not include the Imperial. Only 1981-1983 Imperials were built in Canada with all other years imported.

As well, pre-1969 Imperials were all special orders. Apparently Chrysler built 366 1967 Imperials for Canada but did not keep records on what body styles. Just the total. Did that for pre-1969 models. So, they might have an IBM for a 1966 Imperial headed for Canada. The worst they can say is no.
