Some guys look for cars....Seems like cars look for ME.
I got a call today from a buddy.
You know anyone that might want a '70 Polara 383?
Uhhh...I might.

I went to see the car. The man said the prior owner brought it to his shop because of transmission trouble. The guy dropped the pan and found metal everywhere and gave a $1200 estimate to R & R the 727. The owner couldn't afford it and decided to let the shop have it.

It is a 383 with a 4 barrel, not sure if that was available. VIN starts with DM41L0D****** so I'll let you guys tell me for certain.
It is an A/C car but with cranker windows. Not many options. The bumpers, grille and taillights are really decent.

The carburetor is gone along with the battery. I have everything here to get it running. A 727, an Edelbrock 600 and I can pull a battery out of one of my junkers out back.
It annoys me when guys post about their scores without telling the price so I'll be different.....Guess what I paid including a 12 mile delivery?

Being an L code it is originally a 2 barrel car .

They never find me like that. Even hunting them I have trouble finding them.

Ha !
$200 including delivery! I gave the guy an extra $40 just for the heck of it so it actually cost me $240 out of pocket.
I put a carburetor on it and a battery and it started right up. No smoke, no rattles and it idles quite nice! Maybe by the weekend I'll have the trans swapped out and drive it around the backyard.

I don't know why but the last guy stripped the interior.

One thing I love about buying junker cars is looking at all the stuff left behind.

You know the car is reliable when you find oil, anti freeze, brake fluid and THIS in the trunk"

It fired right up with this carburetor though.
