I need to have some sealing done on my windshield, which will require me to remove my wipers. Does anyone have any tricks or tips to remove them without buggering up the little stainless medallions? I have a pair of windshield wiper removal pliers with the rubber tips, but the pliers are too thick to get between the cowl and wiper arm.

Thank you

Been wondering this myself. Seems someone put mine on a tooth off.
I know I had mine off my 68 once but that being 20 yrs ago now, no clue how.

There are a couple of helpful YouTube videos I referred to recently when I needed to remove them from my ‘67 without the proper tool.

My FSM shows that special tool. Are the tools still made or available?
I’m guessing they are. I would start googling if I were you and really wanted that particular tool. I’m one to try to figure out different ways of doing things like this that keep me from Waiting or leaving my shop.

I think one could make a tool like that at a home shop with proper equipment.

This is the tool you want to use. it's in stock at Rock Auto for 4 bucks.

I use a small screwdriver, and push the tab in or out, I can't remember until I remove them, but it has always worked for me, and I've only had to wiggle the wiper arm a little to remove it. Since you have a fresh paint job, some rags laid down would help protect that shiney finish. Mine came off with very little effort.
