I am looking for replacement clips to reattach the lower body trim to my '66 Chrysler. Some are push-in wire clips and some are a stud with self-threading speednut. The part numbers are highlighted in blue on the attached picture. They didn't turn up anything on Partsvoice, eBay or at National Moparts.

I ran the numbers through FCA and Vintage Parts Inc as well as Arizona Parts no dice. Check RT Specialties or Mr. G's Enterprises

Marty does show the molding 2807121 BTW

Do you have some clips in hand to measure? I have made the lower 66 clips don't know if they can be used or adapted to use on your Newport. I agree Mr G Enterprise might have the wire type you need.

Here is what I currently have.

Here is a 4th lower style I have. Option 2 if you have some near perfect ones I could reproduce them, but not the wire metal type. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks guys, and I never thought of Mr.G. The wire clips look a lot like FA190 and FA191 on this page.

Is that Arizona Parts? I know they have one of those. I am actually looking for both moldings on the driver's side skirt, 2807121 and 2807205. Some eBay seller has the lower one NOS, but they want a lot for it.

A tip with Mr Gs print out the clips you are interested in and the print on a standard sheet of paper is the actual size of the clip

OK, picture time. This is page 45 from the Mr.G catalog. I don't know why the FCBO system is rotating all my pictures 90* when I upload them.

6001498 looks like FA191. The FA191 is a bit wider but that doesn't matter.

6001961 looks like FA4323, but the Mr.G clip doesn't have the sealer on it. I will have to figure out something else to seal it, maybe adding a little square of foam rubber?

Here are the other 3 clips. From top to bottom: 6002123, 6024869 (acorn nut), 6002051, 6002049

I am sure those should work.

I find it interesting that all the clips for the Newport are metal.

Mine are for the Nyer and 300

Yep, possibly because the Newport chrome strips are so narrow? If they had been plastic I'd be hounding you to make some reproductions of these too. :)

Now I have to try to find replacements for the stud types. I may have enough usable ones with the stud in the middle, or substitute Mr.G #FA246. However, of the 6002123 parts with the stud at one end, I need 8 and at most I have 6 that I could clean-up and reuse.

I wonder if that could be made out of resin? I have urethane resins with different hardness. The stiffer resins could mimic the stiffness and slight flex of the metal.

Do you have a straight on shot of the 6002123 clip?

I almost cringe when I say this, but AMS obsolete shows 2807121 in stock. No price though, so it could go anywhere.

Mike that is a cool Excel spread sheet, I am guessing you made that up for your own car. Just in case you got it from an outside source, I would love to have it for other models and years.

Not at the moment. I'll have to take one. I have them soaking in Evaporust right now.

I made it myself to keep track of everything, from part numbers in the factory parts manual. I agree, it would be cool if such a thing was available for other applications.

Update:
The FA191 clips are larger than what they show in the picture. They don't quite fit in the trim, and the pinch-together part is a bit big for the body holes. They can be made to work by reshaping them with pliers.

The FA4323 are a loose fit because the wire diameter is smaller, and they may have been designed for a SMALLER body hole. Consequently the trim does not fit flush with the body in some spots. I should be able to get in behind the body panels to wedge some small wooden dowel or something to spread the clips so they pull in tighter.

I picked up NOS pieces of the upper door trim (2807142-3) which thankfully came with NOS clips including the 6002123. I also pirated some good used ones from a set of good 4-door doors that I have. Between them I have the 8 that I need. (I'll eventually need some more for my convertible though. Someone butchered the lower trim on that car.)

Further update: I gave up trying to make the FA191 clips work, and reused the best-looking used original clips that I had.
