Hi all, as many know, I'm a regular on here. I know this maybe a "tough topic" of discussion, but figured I'd give it a shot. I am curious to know how many other and what kind of other C-bodies were featured in ANY magazine. If you or someone you know has had their car featured, I'd love to hear what car it was, the story behind it, and see a picture of the magazine too if you have one. (Obviously we know about @FURYGT's Flyin' Whale.) I seriously love when C-bodies get into magazines because I think they are under appreciated. Makes me love these cars more and more. I know I probably bragged about it multiple times but, our S/23 was featured in High Performance Mopar back in 1992, now about 30+ years ago. This was when it was freshly restored. My stepdad brought it to the 1991 Mopar Atlantic Nationals show when they still had it in Englishtown New Jersey, the magazine writer and photographer came over and asked "want to be in the magazine" My stepdad said sure. The rest is now "history". Anyway, enough of yackin', here is a picture of the magazine.

I have been a subscriber to Collectible Automobile for years. I have posted articles in the past. I believe you can still order these particular issues. I did acquire duplicates (that I'm keeping for office reading). Thanks Stan!

An apology first; I still can’t figure out how to create a new post.
Guys, my 493 runs on after a half hour of cruising. Temperature says about 185. I’m about to install a new water pump (just because). I understand a colder plug might help? Right now it’s the RJ12YC; is a colder plug number up or down?

The green/white Fury GT has been featured in a few, the owner is a member? Mopar Collectors Guide had at least four in the last year, maybe more, two were on their Mopowered power tour. The Hurst prototypes was in there a different month. Mopar Action has had them over the years. Chrysler Power has too. I believe both of those magazines accept stories from the owners, or friends, or whomever. Mopar Muscle had that four door Fury that was setup for autocross.

If they were a very unique car, or someone they knew, MCG would print it, but it had to be "cool". They seem to be popping up more often, so that's a good thing.

@Shamu70 Click FORUMS above, then on that page find the appropriate section, such as "Heating Cooling & AC. When you click on that, and find the list of threads, there will be an orange box in the upper right that says "Start New Thread". Click that follow the instructions and you'll start your own thread. Hopefully the admins will pull this out of the wrong thread, where it is now. I tried to private message you, but your inbox is full and needs some items deleted to make some space for people to reach you. HTH, Lefty71

From: Jeffrey L. Godshall: "1974-1977 Plymouth: The Incredible Disappearing Car", Collectible Automobile, April 2012, pp. 44-53.

At least the car pictured didn't disappear, because owner Clare Fraser (1941-2018) mentioned in the text is in the previous owners list of the car I bought last year in Canada. Since the pictures were taken, Clare made some changes: road wheels were added, the vinyl roof is now gold and inside he put a real 1977 AM/FM radio with 8-Track.

Thank you Clare, and may you rest in peace!

I had the good fortune of having a very nice 8 page spread on my '65 300 'vert featured in the Winter, 2011 issue of Motor Trend Classic.

The bonus on this one was an all day, professional photo shoot on the Venice Beach Boardwalk here in SoCal. Yes, I've got all the pictures too. This is one of my favorites that did not make the article. Our all day LAPD security and I can be seen behind the trunk.

Another one of my favorites from this shoot that was an impromptu handheld shot by the photographer after the owner of the tattoo parlor demanded payment for the use of his storefront.

Then it was featured in an expose on large American convertibles in the Spring 2013 Issue of Hagerty Magazine. This time a cover!

I remember.....

Stunning restoration!!!!

My New Yorker was featured in the oldest Finnish American car magazine called ”V8-Magazine” in 2001. I didn’t own the car at that time.

The title of the article is ”The last mammoth”

My turquoise 66 Monaco has been in Collectible Automobile a couple of times as part of 65-68 full size Dodges articles.

All 3 of my cars (2 66 Monacos and my 66 Chrysler T&C) were featured in a now defunct magazine called Canadian Classics.

I don't have access to the articles right now (I'm on break at my gig), but I'll try to get them scanned in at some point.

No magazines here. But that may change at Moparfest since I landed the arena this year where the top shelf cars are displayed. Kinda like building T at Carlisle.
Despite meeting and talking to Rob Wolf of MCG. No interest in the BoaB.
I sent an e mail regarding this calling him out.
Coincidently on the July 2019 copy he says "Take ypur Mopar to a major event and you are ten times more likely to get featured in a magazine. ...
"....it really comes down to putting yourself on the right place at the right time...."
".. If ypi have a really cool Mopar and want ot featured in a magazine email MCG [email protected] let us know which show you will be at.....You may never know your car could be the next cover car..."
Ok. So I loosey took this as a personal message. I drove to Carlisle last year and then Moparfest
2 of the biggest Mopar shows om either side of the border.
So I am going to send yet another e mail
If there is no response or he walks past my car at Moparfest I simply not renew my subscription.
Personally I think my car is magazine worthy. The back story, the documented restoration, the hardships and perserverance and support of many people got me where I am today.

It would be nice to have the Boab in mopar magazine but if it does not happen so what.
I get more gratification driving it and kids and adults alike admiring it.

You shouldn't take it so personally and I wouldn't seek it out or let it bother me.

It just happened for me. The editor of Motor Trend Classic happened to regularly attend a local Saturday morning cruise I attend and asked if I'd be interested in being in the magazine. He wound up getting replaced shortly after. I was contacted a year later by the new editor. I didn't chase it at all. After all, I didn't build to car to receive press, I built it to drive and enjoy. I'm pretty sure I got in with Hagerty because I'm insured by them and the same photographer that did the Motor Trend shoot was contracted to do the Hagerty shoot.

There are so many much nicer and interesting cars than mine. I got lucky. It wouldn't bother me at all if the car was never in a magazine but I sure would miss the 100+ pics I got.

From the pic's I have seen your car is magazine worthy.

Rob Wolf is lost in his own " I wanna be important" world.
I confronted him at Moparfest and tried to discuss the tournament of Roses ( Rose Bowl ) cars. Though we know of several Polara convertibles what we don't know or haven't heard about is the other C body convertibles ( Furys / 300s) and E body convertibles. He had zero interest in fully loaded paraded in public, dignitary filled C bodies . YET thinks Bengal Chargers and St Louis Blues Cudas are much more interesting and magazine worthy.
I dropped my subscription in 2004 and would step over him if he dropped dead in front of me.

:soapbox::BangHead:

Put hood scoops on it!

:poke:

Just kidding! LOL.

Fred's car ( Fratzog) made the cover of Collectible Automobile with a picture or two on the inside.
Note. Fred restored his convertible in a 10 x 20 attached garage and was his first restoration . My convertible shared the inner pages along with Freds Polara. If I had known Jeff Godshall was going to print a lot of mis-truths about the Fuselage Dodge I wouldn't have participated .

Having my Polara picked to be one of three featured cars at Carlisle in 2011 was a huge deal for me, much more than any magazine write up. The three cars were on all event shirts, programs, placards etc .

I remember awhile back a lot of C body folk were bitchin about the lack of them in Mopar Muscle. Then all of a sudden they bought a 69-70 Fury and the only project they did to it were a disc brake upgrade and some other story. Never saw another article about the car or what happened to it. I've lost interest in readin the rags anymore.

My favorite car magazine. Probably have had a subscription for 20 years now.
Here is the latest edition. Very interesting article regarding the use of computers in design the new unibody cars and the first e-coat submersion to prevent the rust after the experience of the 57s.

In dad's later years his eyesight was failing him so I looked forward to reading many of the articles to him. The magazine is heavy with Chrysler body design and development articles particularly through the sixties. Right in dad's prime-time so he worked with many of the stylists and engineers mentioned in the articles.

I received this issue in Feb. 2014. Dad worked on the "E" bodies but I was looking forward to reading the Henry J article to him.
As a young 26 year old body designer he was lead on that car. Dad passed the next morning. One of my nieces, pregnant at his service, later named her son Henry James.

I forgot to send in a photo of my car to Mopar Muscle, when they printed every photo of a car that the readers submitted. I figured that would probably be the only way to get in a magazine. Shucks. But I do like seeing C bodies in print, it's fun to read about them after countless copies of the same basic build.
