Looked at a 1969 Daytona today.

Owner was super strange. He is a friend of a friend. I know him but I have maybe said 10 words to him in 20 years. He knew me in the Army and he knows I'm a serious Mopar guy. I had to swear that I wouldn't tell anybody where it was being stored and I couldn't take any pictures. He made me leave my phone in my truck. It's in a humidity controlled facility.

Beautiful 69 Daytona. Dark Green with a white wing and stripe. Black interior. Hemi 4 speed with a Dana Super Trak Pak. 21,000 miles and hasn't been on the road since 1973. He bought in 1976 and is the 3rd owner. He keeps the maintenance and fluids up to date. He started it and it ran well. Only needs tires as far as I could see.

He wants $275,000 for it. I personally think it worth about $150,000.

Nice car.......

He will get his asking price if that is a orig hemi car with 4spd!!

If.. IF, it is an original Hemi Daytona and as clean as you make it sound then is would be
in the 600,000$ to million dollar range....

And,,, if it really is for sale why would he provide a price and request no info be given out on the car..

Is this car in Maryland ?

Yes.

He doesn't seem like he's in a hurry to get rid of it.

One of my favorite color combos on the Daytona, sounds like a very nice and rare car and worth the asking price. Superbirds just don't do it for me...Daytona's on the other hand...

I asked him if I could take it for a test drive.

He said no. Lol

To me, before anybody pays lots of money for a Daytona, they need to do the careful inspection of the undercarriage to see if all of the layers of paint/overspray are in place, from EACH of the paint operations in the off-site conversion process. Things for which the Concours judging at Mopar Nats would get counted off for. Plus other due diligence of its authenticity, for good measure.

Great that such a car is still around.

Low mileage 4 speed Hemi Daytona, possibly unrestored in a really desirable color combo... worth every bit of 275k. Could get more at the Mecum or BJ auctions

so did you look at it to buy it or just look at it?

Just to look at. I didn't expect to see such a nice car. I was expecting to see a Joe Dirt edition.

I would have to take a big chunk of 401k money to buy that car.

I would not be willing to compromise my funds for retirement for a vehicle, no matter how rare or desirable. Even the off chance that I could buy it and flip it through a big auction house for a profit just wouldn't be something I would consider...not part of my mental make up I guess. If I buy it I would want to own it for a long time.

I wouldn't buy it for an investment or to flip it.

If by a longshot I did own it.....

I wouldn't care how rare it was. I would drive it.

In the real world if I wanted something faster than the stuff I have now I would buy a Hellcat Charger.
Snapping back to reality... what I have now is plenty fast for me. Actually my Scat Pack is way faster than that 69 Daytona.

reading your description it is a 440, 4sp car.
If the car had a 426 engine no one would mention the "Hemi 4 speed" (which is simply an 18 splint tranny and every 440-4, 440-6 and 426 Hemi 4-speed car got).

I feel really sorry for the owner.
No Joke.
He owns a car since 43 years which could be a lot of fun driving it.
But all he had is the fun admiring it and see it grow in value.
To each his own but that is not what cars were buillt for.
It wouldn't satisfie me

I drive all my cars including the original 426 Hemi cars.
And I drive them a lot in comparison to others
