Definitely an oops, but also not funny. They suspect mechanical failure. The driver died, and the passenger is in ICU. They are also lucky no one on the deck was injured.
"A man died after his motorhome careered down the hill and off the raised loading ramp at the Tadoussac ferry port (Canada), before flying through the air and crashing onto the ferryboat's stern. Quebec police identified the victim of the accident on Monday, June 24, as Eric Belec.
The 40-year-old man (from Laval, Quebec) was pulled from the wreckage and rushed to hospital where he died hours later. A female passenger, also 40-year-old, was taken to hospital and fighting for life.
Dramatic video footage of the accident shows the moment the camper van hurtles over the ramp and through the air over the sea prior to smashing into the departing vessel.
In the CCTV, ferry passengers are seen on the ferry, but luckily no-one onboard was injured, reports say.
Eric was hailed a hero as eyewitnesses said the man did everything he could to warn people to get out of the way and avoid other pedestrians and cars, beeping his horn.
It is believed the driver had lost control due to a technical fault with the RV."
