Yesterday I was given a 1967 New Yorker that has been sitting on a trailer behind a friends machine and welding shop for about 15 years. A few days ago, the guy finally walked in with the title and said they could scrap it because he will never get around to doing anything with it and he can't find anyone interested in it. So my friend gave me a call! The body is not too bad and the engine looks to be complete and unmolested. The trans oil looks really good! The tail lights need replaced and the back bumper is rough. I removed the spark plugs (looked new as well as the points) and put some marvel oil in the cylinders to soak. I lifted it up to remove the rims to get some used tires on it so I can roll it. I pulled the back drum off and the brakes and hardware look brand new! The interior is completely trashed. It needs front and back seats. The drivers window was left half down so it is full of coon poop. I going to try and see if it will run and go from there. The rear end (front seal leaking) has a 2.76 tag on it but I don't know if that means it is a sure grip? Door cards are gone as well. Any advice/help/parts available would be great. The car is in Bloomington Illinois, so if anyone somewhat near by has seats/interior let me know. Thanks, Duane

The tag means its a 2.76 gear. Most likely non sure grip. Mine has the same gears and is a one tire burnin machine! Looks very complete besides the fender skirts. Will be awesome to see it live again! One issue i ran into mine was the Holley carb. It was leaking out of the welch plugs on the bowls after I rebuilt it. Had to source other fuel bowls without those welch plugs but other than that and replaced the timing chain thats the most of motor issues I have had. Just put 80 miles on mine this morning!

The skirts may be buried in all the rubble behind the front seat. I know a bunch of the trim is back there. Have not had time to sort through the mess yet. It does have a Holley, so I guess we will see what happens when I try to start it. I'm getting some used tires put on the rims in the morning and then I will try to work on it tomorrow after that. Thanks for the advice.

I haven't actually seen it yet, it is my friends shop office. I hope he did, but if not, they know how to get in touch with him.

Hello Duane,
I have a 68 new Yorker 2 door parts car which is almost complete. I am using it as parts for my 67 Newport project. I would entertain selling anything I cant use on my 67 and that includes both front and rear seats, since my 67 is a bucket seat convertible. If you are interested in anything, let me know

I wouldn't write this offer off if the prices are good. You could probably ship the seats through Fastenal for less than $200. They just need to be completely on a skid.

Duane,
I looked this weekend. Seats are black split bench in front and center fold down armrest in rear. Looking through the window they look OK. car is closed up so no large amount of weather on the seats other than maybe some sun damage car leaks around rear window I'm sure but I don't know how that effects the seats. unfortunately the car is wedged between 2 others so I cant get the doors open. Hopefully I can get the car pulled out of that spot soon and will be glad to furnish pics then. If you are in a hurry and are really interested Ill push my guy to get it pulled out ASAP

No hurry, I'm working on other issues at the moment. I got some used tires put on it so I could move it around. Rolled it off the trailer and put a dumpster beside it so I could shovel out the inside. It does start, run and move now. I replaced the drivers side motor mount and got the drivers window up to keep weather and critters out. Chopping away at it!

Duane,
OK, have fun. I will see the guy who will help me move the parts car over the weekend so hopefully we can develop a plan to get it out of where it is at the moment. My project is almost ready to start and let run for awhile. I did all new brakes and lines, gas tank, sender, fuel lines and pump, rebuilt the carb, new water hoses and thermostat, oil and filter, bypassed bad Ammeter and started for a few seconds for first time since 1990. Hooking up oil pressure gauge tonight, Hopefully Saturday I can let it run for awhile and see what happens. I've been on this one for about 8 weeks.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement single exhaust system for this 1967 New Yorker or do I have to just take it to the local shop? I basically want to go with stock set up.

Very nice and good luck with this. I'm putting a 67 New Yorker on the road right now thats been on the side burner for 14 years. Also a 4 door Ht. Hit me up if you need parts, I may be able to help. I have a few 67 Chryslers for parts. This is my project. The seats are what I need to find kits for and rear window regulators. The rest is solid. Glad to see I'm not the only person that likes these old things.
