Rim size selection

I do believe that is true. I just looked at some old pictures of the TAs I had on it; they were 235s and I wanted a larger tire.

1968 Chrysler 300, friend of mine, Comes with 225/60 - 15, which is too small tire in my opinion. But the Rim is nice. American Racing VN501 15 x 7"

That is my car, good picture to compare VN501 American Racing 15x7 in the front (225/75-15) and (old) 15x8 Magnum 500 in the back (255/60-15). They will be replaced with 15x8 (235/70-15) 20mm White wall as well. Coming soon.

I went with 235/55/17s with a 7" width on my Sport Fury and they fit with no issues what so ever. I could have gone several inches wider with no problem, but my car is all original with the stock 383 4bbl so I don't need anything aggressive. I do agree with the earlier comments about ride quality suffering if you go too large and I do not recommend anything over 17" if you want to maintain a comfortable ride. You can still find a wide selection or reasonably priced rubber in 16" and 17" but it is getting harder to find 15" and that means higher prices for limited choices. Just my opinion, but I went with American Racing 501s to mimic my original Magnum 500s and I am very happy with them. They are very affordable, too, at just $180 each delivered from Summit Racing.

Did you use the 4 inch offset?

I run 16s from a 2000 Intrepid. 235/55. 9/16 studs with 1 inch spacer.
I also have 2004 Mustang 16s that I run as well that I can post later

Have 18" torque-thrust on my 66 New Yorker. 275/45zr18 in back and 255/45zr18 in front. I think they look awesome, my neighbor thinks they're a major appearance upgrade.

yes the skirt fits with these wheels and tires. Had it off for painting and trim install. I believe the photo of the passenger side shows the skirt installed. I attached a photo of the skirt installed.

Working on patching the outer trunk extensions this winter while the roads are covered with snow. Will be breaking out the Meguiars and the polisher on this side when temps rise and the snow is gone. Got the brakes working again and drove down to the shop for an alignment recently. Ready for the road now.

So this was one of my inspirations:

Here is the way I got it with 14s

And this is current with 17s. Regardless of wheel size the tires had to fill out the wheel wells more and be wider. 17 was my limit though. After that I could not get enough sidewall for my liking. For comparison the front tires are only 1" taller and 1" less sidewall that the 14s. Pretty close actually
