What a beauty! 60 Imperial

I can't tell you how much it hurts to see such a nice car again. I had one too that I bought from Bob Saigh, also on this site probably about 3 years ago. I fully intended to restore it, but in taking stock one day of the insanity around my place given my age, I had to make some tough decisions if I was to make progress on my favorite fuselage cars. I had a total of six 1960 Imperials including the one I bought from Bob, and realized, given the difficulty of restoring even one of these cars, I really should let them all go. I had a much younger guy than myself respond to my lisitng that wanted all the cars I had very much, and he lives in the Bay area up north and has the means to restore several of them - he already has a lot of cars, probably much like the owner of this mint green one, and he has a mechanic he employs full time to do the work. I got to meet the guy doing the work, and he is indeed very capable and really nice to work with in getting these cars all ready to go for the new owner. So several will be restored, and one of them is just like this green color Crown Coupe in the video as well, but the one I sold to the new owner has swivel seats too, and all the other options including a/c, cruise control, automatic headlight dimmer and so much more - fully loaded.

So I am hoping to be able to visit his place in a couple years or so to visit some of my former dream cars but in a finished condition. I believe I made the right decision to sell them to someone that really could get the job done. These cars are not easy to restore at all, but I included a bunch of NOS and excellent used parts that I had been accumulating over the last 20 years to restore them so he will have plenty to work with too.

Here is one of the ones I let go showing it during the loading process - it is the very beautiful one Bob Saigh sold me.

Thanks for posting this amazing example of a luxury vehicle - it was a very unique one year model.

Well done, not easy to let them go but they'll be lovingly restored and enjoyed by the owner and car lovers alike.

So many do the opposite, not for sale, I'll do it one day, crusher appears to remove unwanted junk (to the heirs anyway) and it was all a waste, hope you enjoy your eventual drive/ride when they're done.

Tough decision Steve. Knowing the quality of work you do I'd have loved to see it finished by you!

'60 is my all-time favorite year for Imperial's, and Chrysler and Desoto's... and Plymouth. Dodges... they were ok. I liked the '61's better.

We have very similar tastes in automobiles Kenny. Very cool! And I agree with you on the Dodges, as I thought the 60 models, while very nice too, weren't as well done overall as the 61 Dodges.

He also has a '61 and several Chryslers! Steve you sure know how to hurt a guy....Seeing those photos of the "Bronze Bomber"! I personally had 3 '60 Imperial Crown Coupes....I sold 2 of them a while back.
