our journey to Carlisle has been problematic and we are more than a half day late.

Traveling down in our motor home today with an enclosed trailer full of parts for the swap meet.

The generator on our motorhome quit 1.5 hours into our trip today so my original plans of having the motorhome at Carlisle while I unload our problematic as our refrigerator needs the generator so I need to get the motorhome to the campground.

Wondering if anybody has a truck that could tow the trailer later on today or tonight to the campground. Possibly may need it towed back-and-forth again tomorrow if I can't get it all unloaded. our campground is less than 15 minutes away.

If you think you can help, call me, my wife will answer as I will be driving and she can relay information to me. Thank you.

How about purchasing the 1984 Suburban listed her FS by "BigMoparJeff" in PA. Use it to drive with trailer and bring home and sell it. I'm sure you could ask him for an honest description and he has many pictures of his pulling stuff. He appears to be a few hours away from you.

Bill, I thought of every way I could help but two hours away is more like four with the return . Then the fuel and tolls, it isn't worth it for either of us.
I agree with the rental OR calling a tow / roll back with a hitch.
Even if I brought my truck and trailered my car tomorrow night probably wouldn't work for either of us.
PM me if you're screwed and I will work something out for you but it'll have to be tomorrow evening.

The big flaw with this plan is that I need the Suburban to go back and forth to Carlisle too. The big flaw in my plan to sell it is that I don't have anything to replace it right now, but I wanted the new owner to be able to bring it home with a still valid inspection sticker.

I would have liked to help out, but I won't be ready to leave until Thursday morning at the earliest. Had a dentist appointment this afternoon, and will spend the day tomorrow gathering up all my supplies for the trip.

U Haul/Lowe’s/Home Depot rental truck 100%.
I mean it would be awesome if somewhere could help out that’ll be around.

That may be an option. Enterprise doesn't put hitches on & prohibits towing If need be, a friend & member of this forum can help me out tomorrow night.

I know first hand what your dealing with. Like my trip a couple years back to pick up a car and meet up with you for the fenders you sold me. The clutch disc in my truck came apart 5PM Thanksgiving evening on the NJP. Hello Enterprise. They have a commercial rental fleet. 3/4 ton diesel Fords and Dodges. About $80 a day. If I was a 1000 miles closer I'd not only be going to Carlisle but help ya out.

This trip to Carlisle was the trip from HELL! Very bad traffic, 45 minutes into the ttip an old satellite antenna on the roof of the motor-home decided to break off it's mount, hang over the side and bang into a large window. Unplanned stop #1 on the side of the highway in the breakdown lane on a ladder reaching up and cutting the cables that were all that was holding this thing on.

45 minutes later the generator quits. This happens sometimes but it usually re-starts. Nope, not happening, unplanned stop #2. Appears the starter or starter solenoid on the generator quit.

Well after stop #2, idiot me forgot to put the deadbolt lock on the entry door, which is a must a chassis flex and bad roads will let the door open even though it is locked. Yup, it opened, my wife had to grab it and pull it closed. Unplanned stop #3 followed shortly by a planned stop for lunch and to walk the dog.

2 miles from the Carlisle exit off I-81 South traffic comes to a sudden abrupt slow down. An 18 wheeler ahead in the left lane seriously locks it's brakes with smoke pouring out from the skidding tires. The idiot in the white econobox in front me decides to lock up the brakes and stop with 60 - 70' left in front of them. I have 2 choices, rear-end the idiot fairly hard or go semi-off roading. By the grace of God I was able to swerve hard into the breakdown lane and onto the adjacent grass with a 39' motor-home and a 28' enclosed trailer and pass this idiot on the right and pull back into the travel lane without hitting this moron. I was not tailgating or following too close and was already slowing down but with air drum brakes on a a motor-home weighing perhaps as much as 30,000 lbs + a trailer weighing at least 8,000 lbs (with brakes on both axles) I'm not going to stop on a dime. Needless to say this idiot stayed behind me but a long way behind me. Perhaps the long loud blast of my air horn along with the site of me passing on the shoulder sent a message to this idiot.

The trip to Carlisle usually takes between 5 1/2 - 6 hours for me. Yesterday, we left at 7:10 AM & arrived at the Carlisle Fairgrounds around 3:00. Almost 8 hours of hell.

Anyway, if anyone can move the trailer for me later today give me a call. I should be at my spaces (A-67 - A-68) by 8:30 this morning to unload. Feel free to stop by and say hello.

Hit Craigslist for a used portable generator or Harborfreight and plug it in. What is the fridge running on now? I thought most of them were 3 way 12v 110v or propane.

Not many rental companies allow you to tow anything with their vehicles which reminds me, you could probably rent a generator in Carlisle for the day.

We are at the campground as of 4:30 yesterday so we have electricity. Our '94 motor-home has an air cooled Propane generator built in. No place to put a portable generator. When the original 3-way refrigerator crapped out 8 years ago I replaced it with a 110v small residential type fridge (which is what many RV's have been built with for several years now). I was able to run it off an inverter for part of the trip but it puts a strain on the alternator and batteries.

I elected to leave the trailer in one of my twp swap meet spaces yesterday because navigating the fairground with the size of the motor-home and trailer is difficult but need that space for stuff that I am selling so the trailer has to be moved once unloaded.

Hey Bill, sorry to hear of your troubles. Glad you're there safely.

Can you reach out to Dave Carson regarding the grille when you've a moment? You should have his email in our email conversation. If not, let me know and I'll send it to you.

Thanks .

I had the time to take it apart but did bring tools. Really struggling with several things right now.
