Finally found one....thanks for all the help everyone...now the story....

My youngest daughter....16 now....loves old vintage stuff, fashion, decor etc and wanted an older car for her first vehicle. I found a 79 Mercury Zephyr we drove 10 hours round trip to go look at but it turned out to be in pretty rough shape compared to the pics and info I was given. :(

So continued the hunt and eventually found a 1988 Aries K car with a 2.5L motor, auto, A/C, buckets and am/fm WITH cassette!! ;) One owner car, always garaged and said to have 183K original KM's.....but I think it's only 83K by the condition of the car. Car was almost 10 hours from me but had a friend who lives close by go look at it for me....said this thing is still brand new and worth the slightly higher asking price.

So loaded up patches and hooked to the trailer we made the trip down to go get it. It was everything it was touted to be so the purchase was made!

Original owner and the car...

Car drives amazing not a single squeak, rattle of clunk and is smooth as silk going down the road!!

Couple neat things on the car....original dealer plate on the back.

And can't say I have ever seen these still intact and in place...

Nice car. Be sure to check the timing belt as it might well be original if this an 83k car.

Patches made the drive home with no problems, we did 1517Km's in two days and about 18 hours of driving for me.....Pulling the loaded trailer home I got 16.5 mpg through the mountains!

Only issue I had was leaving a lot and pulling out onto the road the trailer jack got bent backwards.....:( Oh well there are worse things that could have happened so i will take this with a shrug and figure out how to repair it later.

Nice car. Good luck with her and the first car. We have all been thru it, but she has a safe car to learn in.

I like the interior color. Looks like my recliner. Not that I need another vehicle, but going to look for one of these, see if I can find a deal somewhere.

I like it. As I once said before I had looked at an 88 Caravelle with slightly more mileage but was failing the smog test because of excess HC. I saw what the problem was but the seller wouldn't lower his price after three failures to pass as I could do the repair. He was the original owner. The interior was the same red color but the headliner was sagging as typical for those cars. How's yours?

I've seen these cars one of two ways. Either a piece of **** driving on the road or a cream puff in a driveway.

Your daughter has quite the standard to live up to considering how well the original owner babied the car.

The back seat pillows from the former owner tell a big part of the story. This woman loved her car and pampered it. Great score.

This was a cream puff sitting in a driveway as per the 75 year old woman who owned the car and gave me it's history. It disappeared this Saturday as she was moving to Washington state to be near her daughter. The car went with her and by the way she is experienced in interior work and body work but no painting however arthritis in the hands has taken a toll.

I still think it looks well cared for, extremely clean for a 31 year old car. The upholstery looks great. ricochet, why do you disagree with that? She even posed for a goodbye photo.

What a great score for you and your daughter. That car looks to be in fantastic shape. It is the same color combo as the '87 LeBaron GTS my son just bought back in March, and seems to be in just as good shape. According to my 17 year old son, things from the '80s are cool to have now. They are great cars and are easy and cheap to maintain. Best of luck with it.

I just had to go looking and all of a sudden there were several K cars where there had been none for pretty much a year. This one is nice.
