Cause of weak spectator turnout at Carlisle?

The last picture the yellow should of stopped at the road . I drew it too far to the right. The C-body line actually extends to the left a little more.

I thought the show was very well attended. The Thursday rain was fast and furious. It didn't start until 3 pm and the sun came out when it was over. I went back by the swap meet when the sun came out and some of the vendors were under several inches of water. The rest of the weekend was great.

We are lucky that Dodge still puts so much effort to support this show. For those that don't attend, they bring a Dodge and Mopar trailer, a bunch of new vehicles, including the 1st time the public has seen the 2020 Charger wide body. They have demonstrations, give-a-ways. thrill rides (5 Hellcat Chargers and Challengers) with drivers that throw your head around with a ride around a track. I wish Chrysler had some kind of presence at the show. GM does not do this.
I hung out with a local (Challenger and Jeep owner) at the show Saturday night. He said the GM show is pathetic with no participation from GM. Because of the name change from GM Nationals to the Chevrolet Nationals there has been a noticeable decline of Pontiac, Olds, Caddy and Buick owners.

That's not quite true Dave. Only driver and one passenger, just ask Mario.
Unless of course you wanna make for our five trips in and to bring them in one at a time.

Ya, the one lady at the gate gave us static on Friday, but still let us in. I didnt want to chance it on Saturday and miss the group pic, so we hopped out of the car at the corner, got stamped and made it just in time.

Mario (@MarPar ) would do this. . .

Damn straight!

I'm dying mine black. . . And I'm gonna get a Mohawk. . .

Keep the 'stache white lol

Personally I'm left to wonder if the weather Wednesday or Thursday with the heavy rain didn't scare off some folks.

I saw photos of it and immediately thought "glad I couldn't go".

Also with our weak dollar at the moment I know quite a few local and other Canadian Mopar guys who didn't make the journey

Nick

You would have had a blast, Nick. Besides, it's only money :poke:

We had our best year in sales ever. Speaking with other vendors they said the same. We offered deals to fcbo members and never had anyone ask for a special discount. We appreciate all that came to our booth and will continue to support the hobby with 100% enthusiasm. Thanks again to the mopar enthusiasts

I was wondering whether you might have been there. Did you get the 70-73 C body washer bottles done in time for the show as you had planned late last year? If so, that would have surely helped sales. If not, do you have a new production date - there are a lot of us waiting for that moment.

I note that your avatar is QQE but I thought you called your company Quirey Quality Design? What does the E stand for in the avatar - "Engineering"?

How much did acquisition of Gary Goers business last year help sales this year?

Thanks!

The purchase of the goers business pushed the production of the washer bottles back a bit. We did some business with goers but Richard has such a huge stock that sales were good. QQE was actually a mistake and should have been QQD. Original company was Quirey Quality Engineering. PA would not allow engineering in the name. Hope to get bottles done soon. Just have to give them go ahead.

Pardon my ignorance. .. what company are you representing ?

Reading your next post somewhat revealed the answer .... .

The rain was torrential. I was in row A toward the Grandstand. I had 2 10 x 15 high quality tents and myself and 2 friends spent about an hour just moving to various areas of the tent to push off water that was puddling on top of the tent. Within minutes that large puddles were back. I had 2+ inches of standing water along the paved edge of row A. Some items got ruined and lot of boxed items lost their boxes. While it didn't last a long time it was some of the heaviest rain fall that I have encountered at Carlisle since I started attending in '93.

My only indication of attendance was that the bathrooms and food court were not as crowded as in the past. I was almost run over by a few scooters, so the older crowd was there in force. :p

I thought the C body line was very impressive this year. As usual I didn’t get a chance to talk to as many of you as I wanted, but I was on a mission to find some needed dash parts from the swap. I didn’t even get to the show field beyond the C’s, but who wants to see the same old E and B bodies?

Highlights included meeting up at the photo; stumbling across @FURYGT ‘s trailer at the swap and sayin hi to Bill and @bigmoparjeff; talking about Rose Bowl Polara’s at @polara71 ’s tent with Dave and @69CoronetRT Doug; and a chance meet-up with @Trace 300 Hurst at the 1794 bar downtown (which took me way past my bedtime and whisky intake).

So yeah, if the Nationals and swap should dry up and turn all metric I’d still have to find a way to get together with all of you guys at least once a year ‘cause that’s what has kept me going with this project for the past ten years. And that’s what it’s all about.

, but who wants to see the same old E and B bodies
Hey! :poke:
My Charger has only been there 2 times and it now has orange fenders that make 3 different shades of orange on the car. Keep coming back year to year and watch it transform

You still don’t have a C?

:poke:

:D

Confession: ok I still lust after and like looking at the other cool Mopars at the show, including the A, B and E’s. What happened to your Challenger?

Well said. I think the turnout was good. I think Jeff is just joking about Carlisle Events poor control on releasing emails.

You are correct Bill. That was my original intent, though it did worry me how dead the place got by noon on Saturday. I was also a bit salty about the sausage and peppers vendor having his shop closed up by 4pm, due to the lack of customers. I was looking forward to one more sausage and order of their really good fries before leaving Saturday evening.:(

You had lots of cool stuff Bill. And it appeared like everything was priced to move out.

Usually all that water runs down the hill to the lower laying areas...some of the lower swap spaces get flooded out. You were probably better off than most.

I loved it when I went in 2017, unfortunately I had to make a choice of where to spend my money this year. I ended up choosing to split my car show funds between finishing the 73 and doing some much needed maintenance to my 01 Ram daily driver.

My hope/ plan is that my decision means that I can use the Ram to tow my 73 down for Carlisle next year...

I did notice another site that calls itself “The Massive Site For mopars” had no mention of Carlisle this year. In the past they had a club tent and a few member cars.

And.....where were all the old Fiats?
