2019 Carlisle Trip

I fell in love with the black Monaco under the for sale building. All original car. Looked Great! I wanted it bad. A little out of my price range unfortunately.

My sister snapped this one following us to the show Saturday. I like it!

We got up Sunday, and head to the truck and trailer. Got the car loaded, and set out back home. All was well, till Virginia.

We were coming down a hill, and starting to climb another. The truck started ticking. Sounded like oil starved lifters. It happened in the blink of an eye. That transitioned to clanking. Honest to god it sounded like the engine froze, and shut down. Ever hear a high powered diesel blow up on the dyno? That’s what it sounded like!

Got it pulled over to the shoulder, and started inspecting. Turbo was good. No rods poking out underneath. Oil is good. Hmm?? WTH? Gave it a minute to cool. I was able to get it fired back up pressing the pedal. Huh?

Made it to the next off ramp, and another inspection passed. Well, if we’re gonna die, let’s at least get as far as we can. So back on the road. It didn’t show any more trouble till a couple hours later at the next fuel stop. Engine is surging while accelerating. Deff a fuel system issue.

It limped the rest of the way home, but it got us here! The headlight switch took a dump. Think it got a little hot with the extra trailer lights. Had to hot wire it for the night.

Took it over to my Cummins buddy today. We’re thinking it was bad fuel. Gonna drop the tank, and clean the system out, and what not. She is still running fine, just surging.

Can’t let the hurt truck stop our fun! One more stop in North Carolina. Lionel’s last retail store in the country! Cool place, but damn! Those prices!! Of coarse still got some goodies though lol.

The store is located at the concord hills mall. What a place! It’s huge!!

We made it in at 130 last night. Unloaded everything this morning. Trip was too short damnit!

Big shout out to @cantflip!! Thank you for the train goodies!! I’ll be busy for a little while!

My folks also brought some train goodies from the house.

I swear we went to a car show!! LOL Is it bad the only thing I bought in the swap meet, was a Lionel transformer???

I kept an eye out for a steering wheel for the ‘96, but never found one. Oh well....

This morning I was looking at the Carlisle website, for shits and giggles. The Monaco took third place in its class! Sweet! Was not expecting that! It got registered under Sabrina’s name, as that was the card we used to register with.

I liked the '66 black Monaco in the car coral as well. It was in the car coral for sale last year too! I wonder if he got his price this year.

Really? Huh. Out of everything I saw for sale, that was the one that would have come home if I had the money. Beautiful car. It was still for sale late Saturday afternoon when we were looking at it.

Yes a real beauty. The interior was outstanding..

Someone else won too... but he always wins.. ( out of class)
If you are referring to me, sorry... The 300 guys aren't any fun to hang with.

I think we've had the discussion before that the 300 "non letter" class was kind of BS.

Holy crap that's a lot of Mopars.... I never understood the true scale of the event until now. Thanks for all the pics! I guess I will definitely have to check it out in person soon.

There seemed to be a lot of tent areas (or at least many pics inside the same tent) plus an upgraded area inside a building that was super nice (with the green Dart). Which one of these is the survivor tent that's spoken of frequently?

You or anyone else that hasn't been can not grasp the magnitude of the event. It is overwhelming for many that have been before .
The real and only way to experience the Chrysler event at Carlisle is to be there four days. I am there four days almost every year and simply do not participate in half of it. . . . No time

I've been there several times. Nice museum. Also you can take a steam train from there to Intercourse, Penn and back.

Zac,

You need to stop at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore on the next trip. You drove right past it.

Zac, I also have been to the Strasburg and B&O Museums. Great places to visit. The Strasburg museum has a great view of the farm country, (as you showed in the pictures). Did you see the Alco MRS1 or the last red Pennsylavannia F7 or 8 there?

The Charger must be familiar if it has a "c-bodies only" sticker on the quarter glass. That's also my b-body buddies pink 70 roadrunner in the 3rd picture. It is only 1 of 44 made, and was rescued from a salvage yard in 2006. My buddy bought it in 2014 and just completed the restoration. He also won 1st place this year.

Zac, congratulations on winning 3rd place by the way.
