We were at our house, in the den, watching the live coverage. My uncle (in the Air Force) and his family were there, too. It was a neat night!

In the livingroom at my Grandparents sitting with my Grandfather. He was 61 yo, I remember him seemingly upset, but in reality he was fascinated with the whole thing. Born here in 1908, returned to Slovakia with his parents as a infant and returned to U.S. with his older brother at the age of 16 in the midst of the depression and just before the start of Germany's rise. He watched all the Apollo missions coverage with fascination.

I was only 3, I really think I truly remember it. I heard the story many times growing up, so I guess it could have been planted in my mind.

I just know I have been fascinated by it all my life. I actually took a tour of the Boeing Factory just yesterday. Some model memories.

If anybody goes to The Kennedy space center in Fla. and walks along the SaturnV rocket the have on the ground, knowing that they sent that up into the sky is mindblowing.

We were at home watching, went to my Aunt Nora's house to visit (and watch) and then back home to watch.....

My wife and I, along with our dog, were on a driving vacation with our 1969 Fury convertible. We were camping, with tent, coleman stove, gas lantern and sleeping bags. We liked the top down so everything except the dog was packed in the trunk. The dog had a short lead attached to an eyebolt on the floor giving him maximum freedom without allowing him to jump out.

That morning we were camped on Prince Edward Island somewhere around Anne of Green Gables.

We worked our way around to the ferry, planning to return to the mainland in New Brunswick by 4pm leaving lots of timed to find a campground. So we toured, all the while following the NASA coverage on the car radio. Well we arrived at the ferry terminal about 3pm and saw a sign advertising a church sponsored lobster all you can eat feast. Well we had to do that! The sign was on the road exiting the ferry parking lot and this road reached "T" intersection. We had just arrived from the left and had not seen any lobster signs so we turned right. To make a long and ridiculous story short, I stubbornly kept driving until we had circled the whole freaking island before finally arriving at the church. Unfortunately it was now dark and the church was closed. So we continued on only to discovery the "T" intersection was only about a mile further. I was tired, hungry and pissed at my stupidity, but did manage to catch the last ferry back to the mainland.

We rolled into rural New Brunswick and turned into the first sign that indicated camping. Got the tent setup and decided to star gaze. It was pitch dark, no light anywhere, so we listened to the NASA news while we lay on the hood of the Fury. It was a little surreal listening to the voices of the "spacemen" talking from the moon while it was hanging in a sea of stars over our heads.

The next morning we woke to find we were in the middle of a stubble corn field! We packed up and about a mile or so down the road we ran across a road side stand selling fresh precooked lobster. So I finally got my lobster feast. Later we found the Magnetic Hill and discovered a fully loaded Fury would indeed defy gravity as it appeared to roll uphill!

I'll never forget that trip!

I wasn't born yet. Sorry to hear the wagon wasn't finished in time Mike. I knew you were cutting it close following your thread, but was hoping it would work out. Is that Chip and Dales wonderwagon?

I was 17 months old..so probably drooling all over and sitting in a loaded cloth diaper.
But growing up I was always fascinated with history including the landing on the moon.

Yup right there with ya Leaburn! I was living in Saskatoon and finger painting poop on the bedroom walls lol

Was just about on my way, a wedding had to be put up in a hurry.

Thanks for sharing, I think your memory just shows how amazing of a feat it really was. You probably were listening to it on an AM channel because FM was still rather new.

AM all the way, only my component HiFi had FM, but there weren't any stations yet in Kingston. Our TV was a steel cube with I think a 19" black and white crt. I wasn't until years later that we ever saw the old NASA pictures in color. Life was a lot simpler back then.

I was 12 years old and had just finished for the night the summer job I had with my older brother and his friend.

We headed over to the friend's parents mobile home where his friends Dad was sitting in a tee shirt and underwear drinking a beer and watching the landing on a 19 inch black and white TV.

I swear it still seems like it happened a week ago...

I was 14 years old watching it on my grandparents TV with my parents and siblings. Everyone was in awe. My Grandpa was born in 1902....the Wright Brothers didn't fly until 1903.

Do you think the friend was always dressed so formal for big events? HaHaHa
