Additional Hobbies...Lets Hear 'Em

I do a fair bit of shooting myself. I have a lot of old Winchesters that I take out. Problem is its getting so damn expensive.

I like wood working. I'm in the process of trying to st up a shop with auction finds. I also like to burn powder, but don't have the time or money I did when single.

That's why you start reloading. So you can spend even more, and somehow convince your wife you're spending less.

I still play baseball one night a week in an over 35 league(hardball not softball), use to collect diecast(and still have a huge collection)but gave up on buying in the last 2 years or so. Also a huge Marilyn Monroe fan and still sporadically buy when the feeling hits me.

Nice! I played in college but didn't have the patience to play after I hung 'em up. I tried playing in an adult league after college. I was a pitcher by trade and loathed the fact half our team was smoking weed and drinking before the game. These numbskulls would kick the ball all over the yard while I was on the bump so I hung 'em up for good.

I play competitive pool now, focusing mainly on money matches and tournaments.

My home setup and primary playing cue:

This is the watch I should have tried harder to get. It was on eBay a couple months ago. Went for $232. I forgot about it so I didn't get a late bid in.

While I wouldn't call myself a "collector", I do really like watches and have a few.

These two were my Dad's. He bought this Seiko in 1980. I wear it all the time.

This Movado was given to him in 1968 for 25 of service at the Lipe Rollway clutch factory. I had this one gone through as it had stopped working for him and that's when he bought the Seiko.

I bought this from a friend of my son's. He got it when he was cleaning out his grandfather's stuff. He asked me about it and all I had to do was match the jeweler's wholesale offer, so I couldn't pass it up. Part of the deal was that my son gets it when I pass. I think my son put that clause in. This isn't one of the high dollar watches everyone thinks of.

Then I have stuff like this Russian Poljot. This thing is too heavy to wear, but it was cheap and funky looking.

I had a Poljot for a while Russia puts out some interesting watches! A personal favorite I owned was a Raketa 24 Hour "Polar Bear" it was a commemerative watch for russian expeditions to Antarctica. Ended up trading it for the Seiko Chronograph in the middle of the back row in my pic. Kind of regret it, but if I were to cash out on the Seiko I would make $50. Not my pic but an identical Raketa watch:

I was thinking about posting something similar so I am glad you did. Usual types of hobbies including camping, fishing, hunting and travelling. When we are home I like to take old things and make them like new again. My wife loves gardening and yard work. For me I started to make whimsical style birdhouses then I drafted her to help me. These are functional houses with opening doors (for clean out purposes). I fab the house and she does the stone work. We have sold quite a lot of these but have it on hold for now, we will take it up again. Here are a few favourites.

Always liked snooker so several years ago found a 10' Gold Crown which was the largest I could squeeze in our basement. I'm a big Ronnie O'Sullivan fan. A couple times a week friends come over, We all suck at snooker but have a good time just the same.

Since I've retired I've been very busy with projects at my daughter's houses. Both houses are 100+ years old so there is always something to do. My wife is an avid gardener so guess who gets to do all the grunt work. Just finished relaying all the interlocking brick for the garden path and side patio. Now staining the deck. I've also found some time to get involved with politics with the Canadian federal election coming up this fall. We need to get rid of our drama teacher Prime Minister. I'm on the executive of the West Niagara EDA for the Peoples Party of Canada. It is a new party best characterised as conservative/populist.
Here's a link to the party platform if anyone is interested.

Yes they do!!! The hole is designed for songbirds. Also make feeders

They sure do, designed for small songbirds wrens etc. Lots of people just use them for decoration as well. We also build feeders and apparently the chipmunks love them too.

I got into reloading and shooting a few years back and I think that I just now “broke even” on the reloading equipment.

I do enjoy shooting. Here’s my best 600 yard group.

Other than that, I just so happen to have my job be my biggest hobby. I’m a trombone player and love doing it.

Here’s a picture of a couple of my beauties:

Work most of the time. Most of the rest of the time I am improving my Fury. Other times: vintage fountain pens, amateur radio, vinyl records, cooking Indian food and muzzle loaders. Oh, and nasal snuff. I have enough snuff for three lifetimes but I keep trying new ones.
