I realize that this is unlikely as if the car is gone enough to part, this part probably ain't worth parting. However, I just want to get it out there while I'm still tearing down.

The lower window channel in my 67 Monaco 500 2dr fast top is toast. I'm certain that the part made up by the dutchmans panel is 75% gone. The lower part of the pinch welded material seems there but I won't know till I have the window completely out... in some places, this rot on the panel has spread at farthest about 3/16" out from the edge of the window trim.

Anyway, knowing full well that this will likely wind up being a custom fabricated deal, I just want to get this out there in case a more decent example comes along. I believe the same panel was used on 67 Dodge Monaco, Polara ... potentially (and correct me if I'm wrong) Chrysler Newp, 300 and NYer. Not that this would make it easier to come by ...

If anyone has any leads, let me know. Haven't tried Murray or anyone yet. Still have to get the window out to really assess the crap storm a brewin'.

Thanks

I have a 66 4 door sedan body with a perfect dutchman panel - it should be nearly exact if not identical...

I bought a whole 66 Monaco 4 door sedan shell for parts - it was a 15,000 mile car that was hit at the centre post and written off. Car was otherwise near perfect.

Yours for the ride - I need it gone and I'm scrapping it very soon, as I'm moving.

I could cut it out from the window posts to the trunk opening lip.

I'm in Brantford Ontario - if you paid some gas $ I could see if I could ship it from Niagara Falls NY, or you can just come and get it.

Thanks, Ross but that's a really different panel. In 67 on the 2dr Fast Tops, they went over to that flow through ventilation so the one for my car would have the air outlet on the panel like this feller here:

Of course, you could always 'uniquify' yours, build yourself a one of one............

Wow, can you even fab that panel? Good luck with the search.
I’m assuming that the channel part of the panel can be fabbed and mated to what’s left of mine. Like I said, I’ll have to get it all apart first. I have access to the machinery required to form the parts and am relatively confident in my abilities to make what’s needed... problem is that Ive only welded a handful of times and grandpa with a severe cold laid a neater bead on his kerchief.... that’s gonna need some attention.

the 67 fast top plymouth fury might also be the same part ?

It may be, I only question it due to how the c pillar meets the top of the fender... there’s something different about the fast top fury’s but I don’t know for sure.

If by some chance you still bed it when I go back, I'm planning on removing the rear glass on the newport....I could cut it out then, but it may be awhile.
Cool man, keep me in mind. I’m not in a heated rush.

The big question is the condition of the channel. They were prone to go out real quick esp. if it sat under a tree or (as was the case with mine) the seal gave out and the PO got around a tube of clear silicon.

Again, no rush. Thanks!

I would recommend repairing the one that's on the car. The dutchman panel is a very difficult part to replace. I bet it would take 1/3 the time to fix it than to replace it. Worst case scenario is that you need a shrinker-stretcher to whip up a new section of channel. If you don't want to weld, you can repair just about anything non-structural with panel bonding adhesive these days. Goop it up, screw it together, and let it set up. Remove screws and apply a skim coat of waterproof filler.

FYI, the dutchman is the same part number for all 1967 fast tops: 2842029, but no surprise that a Google search turned up absolutely nothing. According to my book, it was still available in 1973 for a princely sum of $10.26.

As far as glass removal goes, I use a piano wire tool to remove glued in glass.

I do things a bit different from all the videos on YouTube. I start in the middle of the glass with about 6 feet of wire. From inside the car I poke the wire through at the top and then the other end of the wire at the bottom. Then I install the pull handles, and do the cutting from the outside. It will cut bottom and top at the same time, then the one side. Then repeat the process for the other half of the glass. I usually use a fresh piece of wire for the second half.

I was just looking at pulling the panel now, actually. That does look like a bit of a nightmare.. worse than the work involved forming patches (which I’ll have to do anyway for the floor). I may not be the best at welding but I’m pretty good with working metal so I guess some practice with the former is in order.

10.26 eh? Wonder what postage is to another decade...
