new yorker beats a mustang twice

yes c bodies can go fast , my 65 880 rag has a tired 383 auto , just a few parts and it would run to 120 mph in second with 276's re , but it would take off again when shifting it into third or drive .
I had a 77 Doba with 400-4 and 2.45 gears. Would consistently FT shift 2-3 at 93 mph, but none of my buddies believed it. Took them out on the highway, put the shifter in 2nd and it went to 100, so I let off. I'm guessing that engine, pushing against 100mph wind, probably didn't have hte hp to rev more than 4500 or so. I had that car up to 110 one other time (in 3rd) but I doubt it had much more than that in it. A 440TNT would've made that axle ratio much more interesting.

i'd spin it 6k for 120 mph in second , and it would nose up n take off when i put it in drive . and go for it until i pull back on the throttle .

Well, try this one on for size, then. I believe this guy is a member here.
A split-second glimpse looks like 14.49 from this car, but the acoustics on takeoff are awesome. One of my favorite car-vids on YT.

:steering::thankyou:

That one is mine.

It was a TnT and on that run IIRC I was trying to footbrake the converter and I pushed it thru the brakes and went red.

The best run that day was a 13.92 @ 101. 2.23 60'.

4800 lbs, 8.97:1 493, RPM heads with good valve job, MP509 cam, M1 single plane, shorty headers, Holley 950 Commander TBI, Turbo Action 2800 converter, 2.76 SG, Cooper Cobra 275/60/15 thru the mufflers.

That video is 7-8 years ago. Had planned to take it back with the 3.23's that are in it now and uncork the exhaust and then maybe try a set of 3.91's and some sticky tires I have but it never happened.

I just sold the car as a roller with the original engine on a stand so I'm looking for a new home for the stroker.

I've been told by she who must be obeyed that the wagon is off limits...

I want to know his secrets on how he gets that NY'er to hook so well. That is awesome running high 12's in a car that heavy.
I've spoken with that fella somehow. He put cal-tracs on that hot rod.

Thats my car. It runs low 12's. It has stock shocks and cal trac bars with a detroit locker. It weighs 4763 with me in it. I drive it 80+miles to the track and bolt on the drag radials.
