Had a great midweek cruise in the Hurst today. What an utterly fantastic car.

More words! More pics! Please!

I was at a show last week here in my town. The giant car with the wild paint gets a LOT of attention.

Yeah, that's the ocean back there. Nothing like salt air on a 49 year old car!

Beautiful Wisconsin day, nothing but country roads, light traffic, long stretches of open road. Ran lazily along like a new Chrysler. Got on it a bit but backed off at 95. Now a little over 16,600 miles. Owned since the 90's. Bought from original dealer when it had 10,900 miles. Last car I will sell...

Thank You Bill Kay Chrysler, Naperville, IL.!!!

Wade (65Monaco),

Very nice to see your car out of Paint Prison. Amazing progress, amazing work.

You recall our discussion of the yellow-y paint for the grille from last summer? I've solved the mystery, in case you didn't see a previous post I made on this. School Bus Yellow. It's the exact color of the yellowy-y inside of the tape stripe. Hurst didn't go around mixing up their own paints...but you know that.

Incidentally, the masking operation took 23 hours. Lots and lots of leeeeetle strips of tape, and several iterations are necessary for the different surfaces (don't know how Hurst did it all at once. Maybe it was hand painted by a pinstripe pro over top the red?) I put tape on a smooth granite tile, Xacto all those little bits and shapes needed. Tedious, but I'm quite pleased with the results.
