For sale: 1968 GTX, 426 Hemi w/auto trans. The hemi has new never used roller rockers, 12.5:1 compression, and has a fresh rebuild. The heads are off for inspection. The block has had a water jacket crack professionally repaired and has been pressure tested. The trans is a 727. The interior is mostly bare with buckets and back seat. The body is good with only a small amount of rust on the driver's floor, front fenders, and deck lid. It is missing the grill but is complete otherwise. This sale comes with the original 150mph speedometer, a document stating the original 48,000 miles to confirm the odometer reading, the original GTX body, and a donor car. This car is a project and is almost completely disassembled. The donor car is a 1968, 383, Sport Satellite and the GTX originally came with a 440. Both car bodies come with this sale. I have a 69 GTX body if you prefer but it has no title and would not come with a donor car for the same price.

I will NOT part these cars out. Do Not ask!!! If you only want part of it, buy it all and part it out yourself. I will consider a trade up or down for a Viper or maybe a Corvette, nice muscle car, or NSX. Other trades (especially sports cars) may be considered but it must be a running, driving car. A very nice 390/343, 4-speed AMX might do it. You must be able to bring your car to me. I am only selling this because I do not have time for a project.

This one leaves me less than impressed at that price.

Dave

There is an AMX on CL right now. It’s priced way beyond what he wants for his car. I think he will be disappointed.

The red 69 SF that’s 10k is already dropped in price.

The other issue here is that a"professionally repaired" water jacket can mean a lot of things. If the engine was stripped down to a bare block, forge heated and then welded, that is a top line repair. Even welding the block that way, the block deck and main line do not always cool down and stay straight. A lesser repair where the block was not preheated always results in lots of stress cracks that will compromise the engine later even if it pressure tested ok now. A lot of checking has to be done before the engine can be rebuilt. With a potentially suspect hemi that is not native to the car, I think this one is way overpriced.

Are the water jackets the same as in a 383?

Kinda suspect to me. It has Satellite fenders and upper belt moldings. I'd look at this one pretty closely.

Is the Satellite the white car? In the ad it says the GTX is almost completely disassembled.

Note the tree sap (?) on the trunk of the white one. It sat outside for a while by looks of it.

I think this guy is more convinced his Hemi engine is worth most of that money. Maybe those bodies are worth big bucks, but not to me.
