Nearly 60 years off the tracks, the world's largest steam locomotive roars

If that doesn't give you goosebumps, you are dead inside. Thanks for sharing.

Nothing sounds as awesome as a steam locomotive whistle. Still remember as a kid standing at the RR crossing watching these monsters come chugging through. Nice to see one brought back to life.

Great video. I am glad they didn’t scrap it over the years. That thing will give the coal hating soy boys nightmares. Love the whistle.

Wow, amazing restoration. When i was a kid in the late 40's we lived half a block away from a major rail line. Everytime one of those monsters passed, the horn were awesome, at least I thought so. My Mother wasn't so impressed when the train would pass and shake the heck out of our house, lost a lot of dishes. I never forgot any of it and have had a soft spot for steam engines ever since, well actually any and all trains, especially big steam.

Thanks very much for the posting!!

It's been converted to burn used motor oil, 20 gallons per mile!. Back in it's day it sure ate a lot of coal.

I got to see it sitting at the downtown St. Paul station, massive starts to describe it. Wish I got to see it on the move. Maybe I'll see it again some day down the road. Get out to California, they are going to have excursion runs from Pamona to Barstow, save those pennies!

Would this one have had a screw to pull coal in?

I think it’s great they have it burning waste oil. Probably very inexpensive.

That came through Kenosha on Friday, I was at work but my father in law went and saw it. He said it shook everything around you!!

Went it was moved from Pomona to the Colton RR yard ,they had it on display before it was moved for the restoration. You have to see it in person , talk abut a awesome piece of machinery.

Union Pacific is closing shops and yards and laying off people. Precision schedule railroading is what it is called, but at least the Big Boy is running.
