I checked the last Goers catalogue #10 and there are no gaskets for the 64-65-66 Imps, but it's worth a call to the new owners. You can also try Murray Park (via Google) and get some good used stuff. He's help me with the restoration of my '64 Shriner Imp....

Question for you, How does one access the sockets for the integrated bumper lights. I have lost my back up lights and before i even attempt to access the reverse light switch attached to the push button shifter (UGH!!!) I wanted to check the wiring and socket integrity. Neither socket has power in reverse mode but I can't seem to get to the sockets or their wiring. Thoughts? Thanks.

The bulb sockets can be accessed after you remove the lens and bulb.Maybe clean the sockets with a round brush (battery brush) & Pent.oil if rusted.Could be a ground too. The sockets are part of the housings and could be loose.Bumper needs to be removed for access to the rear of sockets. Does your Reverse button stay depressed ? Do reverse lights come on at all ? Even for a second ?

Thanks for the quick reply....the reverse lights worked up until recently. I fully restored the car 5 years ago and recently was told that the reverse lights were out. No, they don't flicker at all and I flinched :BangHead: when you mentioned rear bumper removal for access to the sockets. Sadly, that's kinda what I thought...I removed the bulbs, cleaned the sockets prior to writing to you, energized the ignition, trans in reverse, and still no power to either light. The other lights are all fine. I bought new bulbs, tested them, installed them with dielectric grease and buttoned up the lenses. Yes, the reverse button stays in. And my lens gaskets aren't any better than their age; but they still seal. Having read your post, and after having inspected my lights, new gaskets sure wouldn't hurt. I'll look around.

I remember pulling the entire dash on my 300F and it was a nightmare; I got it done at huge expense to my XXXL hands, back and neck. I sure would hate to even think about pulling that trans selector assembly to access the reverse switch. I actually have a spare working switch but before I consider that, can you think of any other way to track down a short or ground issue? And where the hell is the harness for the rear light assembly?? I checked in the trunk,,,nothing.

Your Imp is gorgeous! There's something extremely elegant about these 64-65-66 Imps with the top down....absolutely stunning! Yours shows beautifully in its blue! BTW, what tires/size are you running?

Thanks for taking the time!:thankyou:

C'mon over, you can start with my damned reverse lights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you restoring one of these land yachts??

Yes, here’s mine when it arrived in January.
Well I’m not planning a restoration so much as I am just getting it complete and back on the road. It’s patina is consistent front to back and I don’t think I could afford a full on resto for now.

Now you say that!

I´ve been waiting for you to start restoring the vert to see it as gorgeous as your 67 some day.

Great shots! Good luck....there seems to be a number of the 64 Imp drop tops out there. They ride beautifully even on the bias ply tires....and it's like sitting in a living room. The 'verts have great seats, thick and supportive. I did my Imp interior to factory specs so it also shows as well as it rides These 5300lb beasts are the best in ride quality and elegance. Last week a '64 Caddy 'vert parked next to me at a local show....the Imp was by far the more interesting and elegant of the cars. The Caddy was done very well, too. I think part of the allure is the relative overall rarity of our converts....

Enjoy the work and reach out if you have issues as you move forward. Mine was a frame off and a lot of effort went into parts sourcing, correct restoration info, etc. I 'd be happy to offer you some of my insanity; now there is a bright side, though. A '64 Imp is easier than a '57 or '60 300 Letter car (I've done two); but to be sure, you're not going to open a book and by a part, necessarily! What's the saying? Pick your poison? Those Ford and Chevy guys don't know the fun of sourcing a part over a year or two....

Enjoyed your post! I love the cars and the thought of getting them on the road again!

The silver car photographs well but it’s in desperate need of a paint job. Thanks for the kind words though!

Are the gaskets molded or die cut. If you have a good sample we will consider reproducing.

Hello Dave, and thanks for the offer. The work of Gary Goers was spectacular and all of us in Mopar restoration land are glad you're carrying his torch! Thanks! Without his work being continued restoring 300 Letter cars, Imperials, Plymouths, DeSotos, and Dodges, just wouldn't be possible. I'm sure I speak for all of us in Mopar Land when I offer a collective sigh of relief knowing that our projects can move forward and that you're so readily able to help with those projects. Restoring any Mopar, especially the C bodies, can be traumatizing without specialized help!:(

On the 64-65-66 Imperial tail light gaskets, mine are dried and essentially "married" to their housings. Years b back I told the restorer not to remove anything consumable items that were not immediate replaceable and that included those back tail light gaskets. Gary did have door handle gaskets and we were able to replace those. It appears from what I can tell that these are die cut where the handle gaskets were rubber molded. I can't get mine off; but they do still seal. Maybe someone else out there can help? I do have a lot of spare parts that came with the car so I'll have to look and see what's around. I will reach out to you if I do find any that can be copied.

Thanks again for the offer, good luck on maintaining the Goers product line.

I would love for this to occur....I'm sure there would be loads of us indebted to both your generosity and that of Dave for the company's efforts to repop these things....with appreciation, my friend!
