Additional Hobbies...Lets Hear 'Em

While I wouldn't call myself a "collector", I do really like watches and have a few.

These two were my Dad's. He bought this Seiko in 1980. I wear it all the time.

This Movado was given to him in 1968 for 25 of service at the Lipe Rollway clutch factory. I had this one gone through as it had stopped working for him and that's when he bought the Seiko.

I bought this from a friend of my son's. He got it when he was cleaning out his grandfather's stuff. He asked me about it and all I had to do was match the jeweler's wholesale offer, so I couldn't pass it up. Part of the deal was that my son gets it when I pass. I think my son put that clause in. This isn't one of the high dollar watches everyone thinks of.

Then I have stuff like this Russian Poljot. This thing is too heavy to wear, but it was cheap and funky looking.

So. . . Do you habla Smith and Wesson, Punk?!?

So.... when do you put up and take down your Christmas tree?? ?
Excellent question! :p

I put up 4 trees, so I try to start before Thanksgiving, it we are not hosting the dinner at our home. (Haven't done that in 4 years as we've been spending it in Fresno with our daughter,Son-in-law, grandson, and our Son. She has to work on Black Friday so we go there.) If I get the trees up (all artificial), I can start the lights on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I put the lights on the house two weeks before, but don't turn them on until Black Friday.

The week after Thanksgiving is "Hell Week." A woman asked me why I call it that since I love Christmas so much? It's because my house looks like Hell for one week! The Friday after I start putting up the village scenes. We are usually finished by the next Sunday. I then love my home for five weeks before Hell Week II starts.

I keep the trees up until Epiphany, January 6. Everything is usually back in storage by January 12.

I do not have burned out lights. The C7 and C9 lights are Twinkles. Loved them since I was a kid!

I throw tinsel on the stereo system and turn off the lights in the room. Looks like a Christmas tree. Lol

In my spare time, I’m a rock star. (On the left)
Some of you may be surprised to learn I collect Mad magazines.

Auto Mechanic by trade, former B-52 Crew Chief. Love aircraft still, but don't get to see them anymore. Cars and most other things mechanical, I just love fixing things.
Woodworking and carpentry, I am doing a pole building with my friend right now. 30 x 40, it will be a nice garage/shop for him.
Guns,I love shooting trap, handguns and I do a little hunting.
Models lots of models, more when I was younger.
Video games, played a lot with my boys when they were younger. I still play some though, but they have gotten so much better than me.

Restoration of our sort of Ranch House in a period correct way. Have to build a driveway gate next. FCBO hose in place.

Interesting looking home. Where do you live?

We live in South-Western Germany. This is a typical design to be found from the 50s to first half of the 60s, but not many left without extensive alterations that cover up the original design concept almost completely.

Interesting. I would probably call that a take on mid-century-modern-house around here. What do they typically look like inside? I imagine large open rooms and hard surfaces.

Not the open very spacious type as seen in the higher priced "dream houses" as it was designed and built with rooms for a Family with three Kids by the original owner, but large Windows in the back living and Dining rooms. Teakwood built in closets and doors, partially so called German Jura(assic)-limestone floors and stairway with typical closed in fossils, teakwood ceilings that extend to the outer Roof overhang on the outside which connect both sides visually.
