Will a 1972 c body radio 3501 521 fit in my 1969 Fury without modification to dash panel. My car has working am radio but would like to get fm stations for cruising. The 72 am/fm has knobs instead of thumbwheel but I don't care if it fits n looks like it came from factory.

actually you can---i just fit a pioneer radio into my 69 fury-----the thumb wheel was scratchy and unfulfilling-----first take off the radio side of dash faceplate----drop your AC tube from beneath the steering column---drop the radio out the backside---now take the pioneer radio and carefully slide it into the loose faceplate-----it is a perfect fit--take it back out---replace your empty radio faceplate----look into the abyss and you will see the metal frame backing interferes 1/4 inch on the left and 1/4 inch at the lower left corner-----scribe a mark----take the face plate back out-----get out the angle grinder----next fire control---sprayed water under neath dash--just moist--then hung a shop rag behind the hole to be cut----didnt want to burn down the fury------carefully cut out an L shaped piece of metal-----the metal frame will still accept the original radio---it isnt ruined forever----put the dash plate back in place loose---carefully slide the pioneer into place--replace screws and AC duct--make a strap to brace the back of radio-----you are done...,.

Which model number Pioneer unit? What about speakers and related placement?s

Thanks,

it was just one of those cheap slide into a collar type pioneer super tuner IIID----also avoid the radio with the pop off face plate---if you accidentally pop it off the radio will fall into the dash-----for now i just put speakers in the rear package tray from the bottom side (trunk)---there are precut holes with screw holes (6X9)--and the insulation under package tray is precut and will fall out----one side was already part way out and i had to pick a little at the other side to drop it---you dont need the speakers grills--they interfere with screwing the speakers in from the bottom...make sure to pick the correct length of screw---you dont want it poking up through the package tray material...
