Layson's robbed at Carlisle

That Sucks!
Do they have c.c. video on fairgrounds?

Laysons robbed at Carlisle.

Post #29 Interesting response from Layson's about it.

After reading the whole thread why did this come into my mind?

Theft had been one thing you never had to worry about at Carlisle. Apparently & sadly that has now changed.

Unfortunate to say the least. Obviously some opportunistic low life who never learned, you pay for what you want, not steal it. I hope some security footage will reveal the crook.

This is nothing new, last decade and even into the 90's at the Northwest 200 motorcycle races in North Ireland where they allow free pit access the quegs were making off with high price racing wheels and other factory race parts, This years TT in the Isle of Man one top well known rider that got killed, his cell phone went missing out of the paddock with a plea on FaceBook/Twitter etc. to return it to his wife as it had his last living pictures on it.
Never heard if there was a positive outcome on that.

The racing here in the USA when the pit prices admission went sky high with the explanation that the insurance went sky high. Word on the street to me was people were stealing a lot out of the pits, engines, frames, wheels, etc. Last time I went to the Daytona 200 & vintage races they wanted 60 bucks over the GA of $25 to get into the infield for pit admission. I had just gotten a new digital camera and want to fill up my new 256mb card with pictures and I said to the old timer that I was with, "Watch, we'll just walk in like we own the place". He gave me this look an smirk as we strolled in right past the security guard as the guard was checking some punk with the bigazz pitpass on a lanyard around his neck on a pitbike going out , think the kid had a frame around his shoulder. LOL

A few years later I did the same thing for the 200. After the 50th anniversary of the Daytona 500 we found all sorts of chain link fences up dividing the VIP/Fanzone sections.
BS, come Team Challenge race I walked into the pits like I owned them, even got into the 'HotPits'!

Never! There was / is always a matter of trust there.
I'm still not convinced that there isn't something in the woodpile here and simply because it's Layson's.

Dave Layson spent two 1/2 hour phonecalls with me about a year ago to help me correctly identify a bunch of goodies that I needed to refresh and "OEMize" my car.

Very unhappy to hear about this.

The 300 or a B body?
My Hurst car (only Mopar I own). Lots of little underhood and other "hard parts" applicable to C, B, E cars/440 engines, decals, etc. NOS engine mount was in there somewhere, and he carries a lot of the Hoffman Winners Circle hardware.

Mainly, he took the time to listen, advise, and even recommend other vendors for stuff he didn't have.

Idea: Maybe the owners of For "abce" Bodies Only could set up a little fund for Layson's (who of course is a sponsor/advertiser here). Five bucks via PayPal from a lot of the many members on these "Body" forums could eat into that $8K loss.

I'm in for $10. :usflag:

I haven't done any business directly with Layson's. Interestingly enough, some of my '65 Barracuda parts that I ordered from Classic came from Layson's, and I ordered from them because the sipping was cheaper, but I digress.

There seems to be a lot of "bad press" with them and then there seems to be lot's of "feel good" stories too. I don't know what to think.

Their "incident" with trademark infringement was all over the internet, and I never did hear a straight story. I purposely stayed away from them at the time as I was a business partner in a direct vendor to Chrysler and I didn't want to be perceived as doing business with them at any level. That's now "officially" in the past for me, so I have ventured into their Carlisle tent this year for the first time. It looked like decent stuff, although they weren't giving it away.

No, sorry... That's a business expense for them. $8k (their estimate) was retail prices, so let's half that for actual out of pocket. Figure in the tax write off and they aren't hurt all that bad.

It still sucks... and your thoughts are admirable, but they'll be fine.
