Ive just started sorting the top out. The frame was pretty crap to start with. It was rusted solid and took a few weeks soaked in a citric acid bath and a lot of angry threats with a big rubber mallet before it started to free up. I will have to post some wanted add soon as I think I am missing a few bits. I head in for surgery in 2 weeks which will slow me down for a few months.

I had to strip and redo the trunk lid due to some solvent issues. Managed to finish it yesterday but fell over carrying it with my son. Luckily no damage to the lid but ended up spending a night in hospital getting a gash stitched up. Hoping to get the hood finished before I head in for one of two shoulder reconstructions starting next week.

Dayum! Take it easy! What happened to you? Were you in a fight, or is that car kicking yer arse? I know mine is kicking mine. Nevertheless, nice work yer doing.

Looks great and the gap looks perfect.
Thanks mate. It was the best trunk lid I had but it was the worst fit oringinally. I actually sliced the left side Of it from front to back when I was doing the bodywork. Then I ran the tig along the edge. I’m a bit OCD with panel gaps and original seams

I was pretty certain when I saw your gap that it was never that tight and perfect from the factory. Your OCD is paying off, your car is looking incredible. You have amazing skills.

Good luck on your up coming surgery. If it is rotator cuff surgery on your shoulder, I know many people who have had very good results, but you have to listen to your doctor. I have a feeling this might be the hardest part for you, is to rest and let it heal properly. :)

Thanks mate. It’s impingment surgery in the rotor cuff. Removing the bursar sack and grinding away some bone to free up some space and also repair some tendon tears. This is my good shoulder and I’m dreading getting my other done once this one heals. Thanks for the kind words. It’s certainly going to be difficult resting as I don’t watch tv, but I’m going to Be definitely doing as the doctor says. I don’t think I have another 12 months in me of dealing with the pain and no sleep.

Got the hood painted and back on. Also found a supplier for the correct blue top a day after the new black on arrived. Luckily there’s a few 65-66 convertible owners over here that could use it.

Slowly recovering from my shoulder surgery but up and about trying too keep sane. I’ve taken the opportunity to guide my son a little with his ww2 Jeep restoration while he’s taken time off to be home helping me. Have been doing some sorting on the convertible and spent a couple of hours today at the mates paint shop playing around with some engine colour. Prob not an exact match but I’m happy enough with it and should look nice against the white. Have found a few things I’m missing now so will spend some time online chasing up those bits.

Speedy recovery to you, but take your time... re-injury is too easy and not worth it.

Not much progress due to my ongoing health stuff but I did manage to finish my fuel tank. I split this one and repaired. Can not justify the crazy import price of a new one at this stage. Getting close to sending the engine off for a rebuild hopefully soon.
