I was in Germany.

AFN radio started playing all Elvis songs....

I don’t remember many special days but I remember this one. Was in my way to pick my wife up after work and heard the news. She was a big fan and was very upset.

I was at the beach. Dr. Davis, whose son I was visiting, stayed up all night drinking on the beach. He said it was the beginning of the end for his generation.

Played Elvis last night on CD. Miss the King!

Heard it on the radio in the '66 Chrysler. A true icon was lost that day. Wish I was 20 and driving that car again.

While not a dedicated fan, I always liked Elvis. I was in the Air Force when the news broke. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago on a road trip, that I went to Graceland and found out he had a twin brother. Also I remember being among the many who were happy when the post office put young, cool Elvis on a stamp and not fat, weird Elvis.

I was negative 10 yet it still makes me sad.

I wish there was true talent like that in the last 20 years but no such luck

While not a real fan of Elvis he was for sure a most versatile Performer who would thrill his audience with any genre that was available back then. But I think the moniker King of Rock'n Roll does not appy here as this was a rather short pure bred period. I would tag this to some guys who would stick to this trade for decades with less strolls into other directions.

Anybody remembering the female Counterpart back then by the stage name of Alis Lesley btw ?

Well crap! I feel old now. I remember when they used to cove the bottom half of the TV screen when he was performing. They were afraid it would warp your soul and curve your spine if you saw that obscenity
