I have finally confirmed that my stock dizzy is just worn out. The lobes are worn too much to maintain correct timing and dwell....so I have this mopar performance dizzy I would like to install, but I think I need a box and harness for it. Can anyone tell me what I need?

btw...I have a solid state electronic voltage regulator. I want to make sure I get the right parts. what ballast resistor do i need? I have a 2 pin and a 4 pin...dont know the difference.

this looks very promising. I like the simplicity. I assume you have done this before?
I have not done this myself. I've done the research as I was looking at doing this conversion though and read a lot of very positive comments. It is simplicity... The HEI is a good piece as is the Mopar distributor. A spare for a long trip could just be another distributor with an HEI for a "plug and play" repair.

I did this on my /6 some time ago not knowing at the time that a Pertronix was already in it. I got mine off E-bay and had nothing but trouble with it. Couldn't get it to idle good, etc. etc. I don't know if the dist. was bad or not? I put the old one back in and flipped it to some other sucker on E-bay and pocketed 10 bucks. Just one of my war stories. Good Luck

The 2 pin resistor is the one that you, in all probability, will be using. It is .5 ohms and is actually the same one used with the points distributors. It is the one needed for use with the 4 pin electronic ignition modules, which is most likely what the Mopar Perf or other aftermarket modules sold today will be. The 4 pin dual ballasts were used with the earlier 5 pin factory electronic modules. So, unless you pull a module from a boneyard car, in which case you would also need the 5 pin wiring harness, you will be using the single 4 pin ballast.

You can also use the coil for the points ignition with the electronic system. The coils actually were the same part number for several years.

I changed my 383 over to electronic a few years ago and have never looked back.

It strongly recommended that a heavy duty 2 prong ballast resistor be used as the stock one will have a short life expectancy.

If needed I have some blue box modules new and tested and ballast if needed pm me.
