I did myself proud on this one, sigh.
I pulled my NYB into the garage on an unrelated maintenance item .
The FM radio reception has never been that great with the factory radio, so before I shut the car off I walked over to give a little "tug" on the already extended antenna mast to see if it was ,well extended all the way.

Radio reception didn't change but what did was the power antenna now won't retract into the fender.
Antenna motor still operates, but the antenna now stays extended.

Did I mention the power antenna was working perfectly before I put my hands on it?

Depending on location of the break you might be able to fix it. It won’t extend as far though, if you do.

If it helps these antennas are the same as GM units only with a different plug.

I too have the same issue with my 75 and 77 NYB. I pulled the inner fender on the 77 to replace it with one I purchased.. the newly acquired one was to short, from another year I assume.. good info though about them being GM and Ford friendly.. I'll have to look into that. thx

I seem to recall that experience. I fixed it by having my wife hit the down switch, while I pushed the antenna down.
