Tag, you're it @BIGBARNEYCARS ... here's hope that all our friends in NC get through with minimal disruption.

For anyone in FL who felt cheated by this past week's preparations (yes, the panic did officially begin last Wednesday)... that red X in Africa still has potential...

Don't worry, ya still have a chance, as soon as these guys are bailed out I'm sure that they will be making a beeline your way!

The Navy just ordered all ships based in Virginia to go out to sea to ride out the hurricane.

This thing finally got its act together and moved north.
Daytona still there?

Oh boy where do I start on this....

As per my previous post above all we got was light rain, breezy, windy gusts to 40mph'ish, nothing like Hurricane Matthew. The beach got heavy surf, I'm sure somewhere the seawall was undermined, and of course whatever shoddy fly-by-night construction repairs from the last hurricanes that rolled through here got scattered all over.

The early morning local talk show here was full up with the regular *** kissing callers (still drunk) calling in which was pretty funny until they shut that off. Then it was all the thank god's, dodge a bullet, divine intervention, till the afternoon show which was chock full of backslapping, job well done, what can we learn from this, (paff) from City & County official people. The morning traffic report was nothing, but still some *** clowns found it appropriate to smash into each other as there was a accident somewhere to report. LOL

This mornings show turned into a bitchfest about the shelters, the clueless host even though he's lived here for about 30 years and doesn't know the difference between a Hurricane Watch & Hurricane Warning was going on about the college students filling up one shelter (like in 04) and was confused that several shelters were closed vs. "At Capacity". Dumazz, closed means no one showed up so the volunteers shut the doors and went home. Wonder if he ever found a proper barbershop, I wasn't going to tell him where I've been going for the last 20 years cuz he'd be whoring himself in ads for free haircuts I'll bet.

Ah yes hurricane shelter wars, same thing happened over in Sarasota during Irma, classrooms reserved for Sarasota's elite bitchfest going on the City-Data Forum (which I was right quick banned from, ha ha).

Then the host went on a rant about elderly people having to fill they're own sandbags to a spew about how the new sprawl retirement communities want to be exempt from some new school surcharge tax because the old people use the schools for hurricane shelters. Then a caller called in about the Turtle Nests.... OMFG!
Gud Gawd, Last I saw of the host was in the FaceBook Live broadcast from the new radio studio, he was white as a ghost, looks like he hasn't been in the sun for a decade, overweight to the point of being obese, complains about every known ailment to mankind, does ***** ad's for the local downtown ChiroKwak etc...
Wish he'd go back up north (not gonna happen) or just have a heart attack and get it over with.

Now I take it your posts, Daytona + Thanksgiving + Vacation means you will be coming down for the "Turkey Run Show"?

If you have Hotel reservations here's how it goes after a hurricane.
Code Enforcement has been ramp'd up, ever since the 2004 hurricanes, the money grubbers have decided now is the chance to 'Miamify' Daytona Beach and bulldoze everything and build 'Concrete Canyons' to build up the tax base for they're retirement fund. So after a storm, code enforcement goes around to inspect the Oceanside Hotels for any water that has come in through the old shoddy (not Andrew code) windows and if they find any wetness they revoke their 'Occupancy Licence' under the not fit for human habitation classification due to mold. This leads too further costs as if they haven't upgraded the Hotel to a full fire sprinkler system code ($$$$$$ millions) they will not get a 'Occupancy Licence' until they do. There is one iconic condo tower in the shores that is still being worked on and is not ready for occupancy yet since Hurricane Matthew hit it in 2016. Also there are still several hotels/condos that have been completely gutted and are being rebuilt from Matthew because the mold got so bad from sitting for so long because there weren't enough mold remediation company's to take care of it all. Plus plenty of very large Oceanside beachfront properties laying vacant from the '04 hurricane season where they just tore it all down as the repair was just too much.

So if you got a Hotel reserved, check with them often as they will lie too you till the last minute and you may find or come down here and see it all closed up. This has happened before via the Travel Adviser forum. The Americana Hotel is one IIRC. (Timeshare sh1thole).

Good Luck to everyone in the path now.

Just plug in "snow" in place of rain, "Bomb Cyclone" for Hurricane and you'd be describing our local weather guessers.
They act surprised every year when it snows in January!
:drama:
