A few of us are driving from the West Coast to the Aero Car Reunion in Alexander City, AL, hosted by the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum. When we went four years ago I posted on Moparts and got a few suggestions at a couple cool spots to stop at so I figured I would try here too. So anyone have any suggestions? The current route is: Seattle to Grand Junction, CO, then taking I-70 across to St. Louis, cutting South to Nashville, then to Burlington, NC. From there we go to Atlanta, then Alex City, down to Destin, FL, then we head back West. Planning on going through New Orleans, Houston, Phx, LA, then back home. Bummer is Fall Fling is two weeks after can't find any Swap Meets/Car shows on the way home. Driving my F3 Charger 500 Power Window AC car. So far we have three 500s and two Daytonas driving from the West Coast.

Please get pics along the way especially of the cars all together at the various locations....

Sounds like a great trip. I question your route though. I would suggest going south to Birmingham AL and making a stop at Barbers motorsports to visit their museums. One a motorcycle museum and the other automotive orientated. Both world class. From there go east on I20 to rt 231 S to hwy 280 E. (this is the hwy that will take you to Welborn's place). Just a couple miles down 280, on the left, is Streetscene restoration shop. My 61 Fury convertible is there. Mark Crowe will be happy to host you. You can then continue to Alex City. You'll love the wellborn collection and Tim's southern style hospitality.
Then you can continue to Atlanta, which, for the life of me, can't figure out why anyone would want to go there. I have found routes, both north and south, around Atlanta. About 60/70 miles further but well worth the detour.
Be prepaired for LA/Chicago/NYC type of traffic and big dissapointment if you go that route.
That's my Bama input. I may see you at the wellborn event.
Will.

We are going to the McCandless Museum in Burlington, NC, on the way out which is why we are going that way. So that means we take a Northern Route. And the event kicks off at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on Thursday morning. They are going to let us all drive on the Oval. That was the highlight of the event four years ago. They said go "highway speeds"...lol

If you need to do any preventative maintenance on your way back west I'm 45 miles from Destin, 3 miles off I-10. Your welcome to use my shop.

If that's the case, You can proceed east on I20 after the Barber motorsports park, (google it), and that will lead to the Talladega superspeedway, just off I20. Where the Aero wars started. They offer track tours and a great racing museum. I20 will take you right into hell.... ure, Atlanta.

Leaving Wed Oct 2nd from Seattle. Need to be in Burlington, NC, Tues Morning Oct 8th. The event is Oct 10th at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Friday at the Wellborn Estate in Alex City, Saturday at the Wellborn Museum, then Sunday at Talladega for the Fall Nascar Race. We head to the Gulf Coast after the race.

That's where I'm at. Foley Alabama. I'll likely be at welborn's place and will love to meet y'all.
Glad to steer you to the choice seafood digs in Orange beach and Gulf shores.

I'll be driving the AC Power Window F3 Charger 500 with Washington Plates!

Video of us leaving the Graham, WA, Mopar show last month. All three cars are driving to the Aero Car Meet.
