Hi, My name is Patrick; I go by DodgeMaxx on your site.

I am and have always been a very enthusiastic and appreciative C Bodies person. As such, I have several of these seldom seen and hard to find wagons, (and 2 door coupes as well) in my collection. From 1970 to 1973 Chrysler Town & Country Wagon, Dodge Monaco Wagons, 2 door coupe 1973 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham, 1972 Dodge Polara Custom, 1972 Dodge Monaco, etc. and also two 1967 Dodge Monaco Wagons, 1966 Dodge Polara 880 Wagon, also several late 50's big fin Exner cars and many other various MOPAR's.

While my intent is to sell several of them, there is at least one car that I would like to restore, unless I could find the same car already restored or in pristine original condition - a 1971 Dodge Monaco 2 door hardtop. Assuming I were to go with this restoration in the future, the assistance and advice of some members on this site may be very helpful and appreciated when the time comes.

I have been a member for several years, however never actively participated in conversations or postings.

I am thinking about placing some of my cars on the C Bodies site but I am hesitant because of all the comments usually made (tried that before, I also read comments on other people's ads). It seems that there are many "experts" and everybody has an opinion. Quite often some guy will disparage one's automobile for one reason or another. Example: car does not have the correct..., can't believe they want that much for this... this work or that work should have been done... etc., etc.

I have many hard to find cars (and seldom found available for sale) for which there is a following (C bodies). My philosophy is why disparage these great cars by trying to knock them down and their value? If people like these cars then honor them! It's not like there are so many of them around!

I am intent of selling my cars; not have a conversation about how the cars (or the selling price) should be. Cars are what they are; they are not perfect (what is?), and may need a little bit of this or some of that; however, cars are all there and present decently well. I would like to sell my cars to similarly appreciative C bodies enthusiasts. If a person likes the car AND IS SERIOUS ABOUT PURCHASING IT then please contact me (phone call) and let's make it work (I believe in win-win); otherwise, please don't as there is no need to waste each other's time. While this may be a strong introduction, I am old school and say what I mean with no drama. Thanks for understanding.

Welcome from NYC Patrick.. Don’t let people’s comments keep you from sharing you hobbies.. people are people ya know! It’s said that opinions are like A-holes! Everyone has one and they all stink. Lol.. post away and enjoy our website..

Welcome @DodgeMaxx!

Many people on FCBO do tend to express their opinion strongly. While you therefore need a thick skin on this site, the great thing about FCBO that sets this site apart from most others is that folks here (i) are generally knowledgeable (and fools are spotted right away) and (ii) give help WAY beyond the call of duty to folks like me who are less knowledgeable love C-bodies and are willing to listen. The search function is your friend, too: you will sometime find different opinions on the same issue, sometimes contradictory ones, but you will always learn.

As for prices, AFAICT they have been trending up. While 1970 and 1971 two-door Dodge C-bodies in very good to excellent condition and with detailed provenance info used to go for about $10k five years ago, the prices have about doubled since: I am aware of at least 3 transactions in the $20-25k range in the past year. IMHO, public perceptions lag behind that reality, and this lag may be why you see folks commenting on high prices -- the increase has been quite steep, especially in the past 1-2 years.

Now to the part of your post that got my ears perked up: your 2-door Monaco "keeper". It would be great if you could set up a thread on the car, or at least post some info about it in the present thread. As you may know since you've been reading FCBO for a while, @71Polara383 has been helping me bring Medina (the '71 Monaco coupe I bought last February) back in shape: you may find useful the information for your restoration in the thread that I have set up to document that process. Wyatt and I spent lots of time in the past 6 months tracking the right parts and quality suppliers (with the help of several board members in particular), and you'll hopefully save time by reading it. I have provided pictures and links in that thread, in an attempt to be helpful.

In addition to what you'll find in my thread, there are a number of current and past 1971 Polara and Monaco owners on this board who know a lot more than I do.

1. @Bill Watson and @kmccabe56, with @polara71 and @Fratzog, helped set up the Yahoo board for Monacos and Polaras and are experts on our cars in general and fusies in particular. That board has been a fantastic source of info for me.

2. '71 Monaco and Polara 2-door owners: beside the folks above, @71Polara383, @fc7_plumcrazy and @saforwardlook are probably the board's foremost experts on those cars. @3C's & a D? used to own a '71 Monaco, and he still owns a '71 Polara. @Autoengineer owns what is, AFAIK, the world's most perfect 1971 TX9 Monaco. @dh23t has restored a '70 Monaco coupe and @Fratzog has done the same for a '70 Polara 'vert -- both share a lot of parts with our '71s (I have a '70 Polara 'vert, too).

All of these folks have been most generous with their time in helping me with my cars.

3. Given you interest in wagons, I would be remiss if I did not mention @bigmoparjeff (who owns a '71 Monaco wagon) and @70 Sport Suburban (who owns a '70 SF wagon).

I am of course forgetting folks, but you get the drift. Look forward to pics of your Monaco and other cars!
