What did you do to your C-body today....

Went to a car show!

First time I've had a car that all four windows roll down.

Started my car the first time in about two- three weeks. Seems like it takes a while to get gas back in the carburetor after that long. Good news is I didn’t find any seepage on the floor. I hooked it up to my new Allen test machines to see what works and doesn’t on the test machines. On the white machine the scope works and looks like I have a good pattern. Kill functions work too. I can also cut cylinders. No RPM Signal and the voltage seems to be off. The Blue machine will kill the engine, but no Oscilloscope. I think the timing lights are toast on each as well.
I do need to spend more time with the training manual. They are good reading material at 65 pages.

Replaced both power steering lines on my 77 NYB. Purchased both lines from Napa, perfect fit. The bends of the tubing were only slightly different from OE. But work great.

After replacing the power steering hoses, I figured since I just recently got my seats back from the upholsterer that it was time to gut the interior for a good cleaning and touch up paint of the trim pieces.. there were some expected and unexpected surprises, rusty floor pans. But nothing that scared me off. Just may set my timeline back a little bit.

Since the car has a sunroof, I’m only assuming at this point at the scale rust on the floor came from a clog or missed directed drain line. Further investigation required. I’m going to give the floor pans a good wire wheel some rest inhibitor and prime and paint.. I have a buddy down the street that owns a four-wheel-drive shop and he does “Line X”.. i’m considering Line Xing all the floor pans. Thoughts??

I laid out all of the sound deadening and carpet on the deck for some airing after 40+ years of being in the car.

Id like to replace all of with New!! Does ANYONE have a line on where I can get New replacements? I haven’t done any investigations as of yet, just asking if anyone has a lead..
If I have to reuse them, I’ll just clean as best I can and reinstall, maybe have the carpet dyed Black again..

Charging wise I’ve gone thru everything on the car. The one bad thing left is the needle on the ammeter swings back and forth like George of the jungle. I spoke to FURYGT about his solid state volt regulators and decided to try one out.

Idle w lights on.

Normal acceleration w lights on or off it does this. Under hard acceleration it tilts the whole dash to the passenger side !

Okay here goes...

All I needed to pluck it off the firewall.

The ok generic old school regulator worked so so for an autozone special.

New solid state looks a little different but all is hidden when mounted.

WORKED like a champ. That’s under hard acceleration from a standing start. Needle is calm and collected.

No I didn’t buy these at the store...

Thanks a million FURYGT !!! This thing works great and the fact it’s stamped correctly is a major bonus. Best couple bucks I’ve spent on the car all year !!!

Krylon black, semi or glossy (not flat ) spray paint will make faded carpet look new again. Sounds crazy been doing it since the 80’s. I think it’s an old used car lot trick. You just spray it on - let it dry - rub it down with your hands any type of gloves will work - vacuum out the paint that didn’t stick. Crazy but it works. If it’s ok shape and just faded it’s best $10 you’ll ever spend on the interior.

PS: works best on OEM loop style carpet.

Thanks Goose.. I just may do that. Physically the carpet is in good shape, no tears or wear spots to speak of.. how about the sound deadning mat? Any info on where I can get replacement?

Started to hear a grinding / scraping noise when driving, sounded dangerous and/or expensive. Then I remembered I had heard this before...turned out to be the clamp holding my P/S pressure line to the splash shield. The new screw I had added before loosened up so I got a larger self tapper, added a layer of duct tape insulation, and tightened it up. Noise gone, just the sound of cruising.

If you were in Phoenix I’d say Tempe or Mesa Sales LoL!!! I’m in SoCal and I still stop by there when I’m in Az. I guess any commercial upholstery shop can sell you that jute? backing stuff. It usually falls apart and isn’t worth trying to save. Just measure what you have flat and add about a foot all around for the humps lumps & curves. Good luck & happy hunting.

Took “the Boss” out for her Birthday. It was 76 and sunny when we left for the Rose & Crown. Bangers & Mash, fish n chips w black beer & snakebites, not too shabby. I didn’t even spill the beans and tell Jeremy it was the wife’s birthday. She was eternally greatful for me keeping my trap shut!!! A little cool on the ride back but a nice fun drive nevertheless. They both arrived on planet earth in 1969 so I guess it was really a double trouble birthday dinner.

I took the wagon to cars and coffee this morning - as usual only wagon and one of only two Mopars there!
