NJ is like any other state, some areas are really nice and some aren't. I've been in both.

I get all kinds of nonsense when somebody sees New York plates on my car when I'm traveling. It's not as bad as it used to be, but there seems to be this idea that New York State is New York City. I had to explain to someone in northern Virginia once that they lived closer to NYC than I do. No clue. I live out in farm country. Literally across from a corn field.

Up state is really nice, except maybe in the winter! The city is fine just not my cup of tea, but no city really is what I'm dreaming about.
I would not call N.J. the armpit, I think that is a little further south and not even a state. N.J. is like a dirty hand, most cities I could lump into this group. Dirty hand that just will not come clean.

Back home now of course. Thanks for the offer Paul, it would have been great to meet you but the little time we spent in the Boston area was spent in Cambridge with her son and his wife, a whopping 5 hours...

The Bama Gulf coast is a seafood haven to. Different variety. I'll take Royal reds over a steak anytime.

I had to look up what "royal reds" are. Sounds like my kind of seafood!
