This past weekend a couple of my friends and I took our cars and the significant others up to Lake Tahoe for a 3 day weekend. Sort of a last hurrah as summer winds down. We rented a house in South Lake Tahoe with a 3 car garage so we would have secure parking for the cars. We enjoyed a relaxing drive up on Friday and on Saturday we planned to attend the Cool September Days car show. The show was disappointing, so we quickly decided to take a drive around the lake instead. The weather was perfect so the tops went down and around we went. It was a wonderful way to spend the day enjoying the scenery, the company, and the cars. On Sunday we had breakfast at Heidi's in South Lake (excellent, but expensive) and then took the long way home, going out over highway 89 to Kirkwood (where there is still some snow up on top) and then down highway 88 to Jackson before returning to the valley floor, the same route we took up on Friday. I didn't think to take any pictures on Saturday so I apologize for that, but here are some from Friday and Sunday. The cars all ran flawlessly, although at 7,000 to 8,000 feet you could tell they were running a little rich.

Friggin' fantastic!

Love this sort of thing, including the top-shelf accommodations. Life's too short for Motel 6.

As a 29 year old, these are the things I look forward to in life. We already do a "mancation" with just us 4 guys, leaving the wives and girlfriends at home. But, when we all are married and settled in this would be fun for sure. I have the '67 Fury and my buddy has a '68 road runner. We just have to work on the other two boys and we'll be set.

Looks like a great time.
You're in a good place when your friends can hop in their cars and go on a roadtrip with you.

I'll have to drive my 68 Fury up to Lake Tahoe once I get it back. It would be a nice destination to have.

Yes, definitely! We are very lucky to live where we do because there are fun and interesting destinations in every direction. Sometimes we cruise over to the coast and drive down PCH to Santa Cruz. Sometimes we roll through the foothills and visit the little Gold Rush towns along Highway 49. Sometimes we spend the day visiting different wineries in the Lodi area, or up in Murphys. And sometimes we visit Groveland up near Yosemite or go over to Danville and visit the Blackhawk car museum. I am lucky to have met and developed friendships with like-minded car nuts and we all prefer to drive our cars as opposed to taking them to shows and spending the day sitting, although we do that occasionally, too. Although we don't go every year, we also drive our cars down to Spring Fling in Van Nuys every couple of years and sometimes take PCH to get there, too. It is all about getting them out and enjoying them because none of us is getting any younger and the whole point of having these cars in the first place is so we can enjoy them.
