Thought you guys might like this. If you like vintage war birds

I got a chance to take a look into the cockpit of a Corsair as a youngster and saying , where the heck is the seat? That must be pretty rough flying. I remember guys in the black sheep squadron tv show, hopping in and out of them like the Duke boys. But thanks to the History channel I’ve seen footage of real Black sheep pilots having the chutes hanging off them like a toddler’s diaper with a serious Duce in it. That’s how they did it. They sat on them. Lol

I was bummed when the Planes of Fame museum in Eden Prairie, MN moved to Texas. I hadn't had much of a chance to check out the planes and then they moved on me. Saw a bunch of fighter planes flying overhead throughout the years though, and always loved hearing and seeing them. Always wanted to go for a ride in the B-17.

My Dad was the flight engineer on a B-17 in the Pacific theater during WWII. I always wanted to take a flight in a flying fortress as well. My son did a few years ago and I hope to yet!

Amazing machines! The Corsair would be my fave as well and imo the B17 is hands down the best looking airplane ever made.
Great pic Bob, thanks!

I live just south of Dallas Texas and warbirds are always flying over head. They fly into Midway and I enjoy hearing the sound of a big piston engine overhead. The sound of freedom! BTY my father-in-law flew the F-82 in Korea. His unit shot down the first MIG of the Korean Conflict.

Interesting piece of history, it was such a good plane, the F4U was the only single-seat piston-engine fighter built during the Korean War. One of the reasons there are so many flying today.

P/F-82s were awesome looking planes!!

I believe the A1 Skyraider was manufactured and saw combat during the Korean War.
