I see that my Fury has a different rear window than another one here in Holland.
His is a Sport, is that why?

PH23 vs PH29
Also, quarter window is different. I have a set of 1970 29 body, tinted quarters and rear window. Would basically give them away if anyone wants them, exception being if I have to transport them somewhere. Then you'll pay for my gas and time.

BTW, both 23 and 29 were available as Sport Fury.

i think the rear window was a helter skelter type deal-----there were police cars with both window treatments ----when you would think they would all just be the cheapest style---then a fully optioned car that you would expect to be a formal window has the cheapest----no rhyme or reason

Police cruisers had a different rear window, that much is correct. About 95% of them were either 2dr or 4dr sedans which are a whole different animal than the PH23 or PH29 hard top. The PH23 and the PH29 had different roof lines which made for a different rear window for each of them. The rear window on the sedans is unique to the sedan does not interchange with either a PH23 or a PH29.

i have only seen 2 rear window types---the concave one which drains poorly and rusts through easily and the convex one which is less prone to rust through----the concave one i have heard called the formal roof---i just looked at my broadcast sheet and it has an 11 in the glass box....not seeing a PH anywhere

PH is the first two digits of the VIN number. PH23 is a Plymouth two door hardtop, PH29 is a two door formal hard top. Dodge models will start with a D, Chrysler models with a C. For reference down load the VIN number and fender tag decoder at www.mymopar.com. It is a free down load. G11 is the option for tinted glass all, meaning all the glass is tinted.

I know we’ve discussed the 2dr roofs before. I like both versions in certain color combinations.
Question. Was a vinyl top mandatory with a formal roof? I don’t recall seeing a painted formal from the factory.

I am working from memory here, but I think the vinyl was standard on the PH29. Someone would have to have hit the delete code to get one without the vinyl roof. Again memory, so I could be wrong on this.

Inquiring minds want to know, did you take off the vinyl or is that stock?

Dave

Best I can tell is that it's stock. No signs of cracked plastic hiding trim holes on the right side from the accident. Of course the fender tag would tell all, but there's too much stuff piled on the hood to open it right now.

Thanks for all the info guys.
PH 23 or PH 29.
My VIN however starts with PM29, which stands for Plymouth Medium 2 door sports hardtop, I understand.
What does the H (PH) mean.

1970 Fury III parts car. (PM29) There is no fender tag to verify, but there is no evidence of a vinyl roof.

Your car must be a Fury III, correct?

Fury I = PE
Fury II = PL
Fury III = PM
Sport Fury = PH
VIP = PP

BTW, I believe in 71 or 72 the Fury II became PM because the VIP was dropped in 70 so they bumped the 2nd digit and dropped the Economy PE.
