What did you do to your C-body today....

Good morning Kenny, thank you for the link. I should’ve mention that the first place I went was eBay. I saw this particular listing and contacted that company. I sent them the same picture that I just posted here, and they said that they do not have my shag style of carpet, only the short pile or loop style carpet. I also sent an email out to ACC to see what they have, but haven’t heard back yet.

I wondered how thick it was. I could use new carpeting also. I wonder if they'd send a sample. That shag is a pain in the *** anyway, always looks matted and hard to keep clean.

I’ve asked for a sample to be sent. I’ll post when it arrives..

I got towed!!!

Took my Newport to Awana last night at my Church. Afterwards, my wife said we needed chips for the BLTs she was making, so I went to the store before going home. On the way to Raleys I noticed my lights flickered every time I put on my brakes. Never seen that before, been 16 years! They also flickered when I hit the turn signal. Hmmm....

Went into the store, bought some chips and sodas, went back to the car an noticed a problem immediately: my interior lights did not come on. Uh oh! Sure enough, no turning of the starter; I had no electricity at all! A friend happened to be there; tried to jump it. Nothing. Called AAA.

Don't know what the problem is; I looked at all the usual suspects. Doing a brake job on a church member's pickup this afternoon. Hoping to have time after to check the Newport.

In the meantime, driving the Gremlin!

You can see the potato chips in the back seat!

Thank God I live where I do. I could've left it running while I went in. But it seems you've got a major charging problem. Probably on its last legs being it was dark and all.

Find anything out yet?
Beautiful car BTW

Decided to put a tonneau cover on "Pete the Prospector". Glad I did, with all the rain we've been getting!!!
I know it not C body related, but haven't been doing a whole lot in the shop.
This will be great for everything from parts runs to hauling lumber , groceries etc.

Well there's your problem, the ridges on the Ruffles weren't allowing the alternator current to reverse thus creating direct current only allowing it to flow in one direction and not charging the battery.

The best thing in a while...picked up engine from machine shop.
030 over KB
new cam bearings installed
new dist bushing
Supplied std clevite rod and mains
I will finish block prep and fit crank/brings and assemble it all

No, didn't have time yesterday after the brake job.

I didn't realize I was going to have a problem, otherwise I would have driven home. I saw the flickering, but had no idea it wouldn't start again.

I don't believe I have a major problem, I think it's a loose wire somewhere; just have to find it.

I'm thinking dirty battery cable connection or a broken / loose battery post.

No. Those are as clean as a whistle. It was the first thing my friend suggested when we tried to jump it. He then said, "Oh, I see that's not a problem here."

Could be an internal short in the battery, have it tested.

Could be, but the fact that nothing happened when I tried to jump start it, I will rule that out.

I mean nothing; not even my interior lights came on. That leads me to think there is something that came loose, or off.

Might wanna check the connections at the ammeter. . . And or the bulkhead connector.

After 41 years of service, we decided to retire the lean burn / Thermo-quad carb from my '78 440 Nyer Brougham. We will be installing the tried and true Edelbrock 1406 with electric choke. As you can see there was a bit of leakage. Question - since I am too lazy to pull up the service manual, what is the purpose of the round copper colored fitting in the left hand bore opening?
I can not compete with Doc on the number of cars or dogs. Apparently Corinthian leather makes a comfortable resting place for a 15 yr old dog.

I did check the bulkhead connector that night; everything looked tight. But I did not give it a "serious" look. I've had problems there before.

To check the ammeter I have to go under the dash, yes?
