According to the decoder I used, V5R stands for the red strips.

Nice! I'm guessing you would really have to know your codes (back then) to have even considered or known to specifically order them. I was going to say, "it needs whitewalls"! Knowing this, "it needs redlines"!

Does anyone know what the odometer reads? It looks pretty good inside and out, so probably pretty low miles. Really desirable vehicle.

V5R is "Red Molding / Protective Vinyl Insert Body Side."

As @LocuMob noted, I wrote « strips » not « stripes ». In other words, what I was referring to is that they are red rub/rubber inserts (i.e., « strips ») in the BSM. The pictures posted by the OP clearly show the red inserts in the usual chrome-surround BSM.

@polara71: I trust this clarifies things.

Buy it,so I can quit looking at the ad! Love it but don't have the time or $$ to restore it,but sure would be great car to have

After looking the car over...theres ALOT of bad.

First look,
The hood isnt even attached to the car, the hinges are in the trunk.
There was a pond in the backseat footwell.
Top is toast
Body is fair but on the rusty side. Bottoms of the doors are popping. Trunk lid is popping. Floors and trunk are there but soft. (And currently soaked in a few inches of water.)
Interior is intact-ish
Nothing worked when popping a battery in it except the lights and driver window
The engine is stuck and the oil is murky like it has alot of moisture. The carb is frozen up too. No movement. I was told it was running 2 years ago. Very doubtful.
I pulled the trans dipstick and seen the worst ATF I've ever seen. (Brown/stringy and chunky)

I drove 6 hours to see what in my opinion is a ghost of a Badass ragtop. It would be a major project to someone that HAS to have it. More like a parts car in reality. A really expensive one.

:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:
Idiots.

Now that we know more about the car, tell me about the meathead that wanted $13.5K for it? What was his rationale? Maybe it is the rare color insert on the body side trim?

That sucks, was hoping it was a decent car for someone here considering the price tag.

Certainly was a very nice car, once upon a time. There's a lot of work that will be needed to bring this one back. Knowing now the condition of the drivetrain, and everything else pointed out by Wyatt, he's dreamin' on his asking price.

A very cool machine, hope he likes it, he may own it for awhile while reality sets in.

Wow...but in the opposite way - would never have expected it to not be even running at that price!
