leaking water on the passenger side door of my 72 fury because the rubber is dry rot. Best place to get new stripping?

Just curious . . from the bottom of the A-pillar (where the thick section is) or from the upper side of the door frame? Sedan or hardtop? 2-dr or 4dr?

Sure it's not coming in from the cowl vent area?

Thanks,

4dr I’m pretty sure it’s coming from the top of the door area as well as my trunk

Thanks, as I recall from our '72 Newport, that's not the best rubber/body interface for the weatherstrip anyway. Just a bit of shrinkage can result in water/wind leaks, by observation.

Look at RA in the universal section just need to know the profile way cheaper.

Is your car a sedan (window frames) or hardtop? Sedan weatherstrip is impossible to find, NOS hardtop weatherstrip shows up on E bay from time to time.

I got the 4dr hardtop. Not really looking for NOS just looking for whatever keeps the water out

In theory, if what you need is just the horizontal section at the top of the windows (aka "roof rail"), then if you can find the correct "roll goods" profile weatherstrip, then you can slice it at the upper corners and glue-in the new roof rail section? Not sure if you would find the correct profile in Steele or otherwise, though. In the long run, though, a good and correct repro weatherstrip would probably be the best, at almost "any cost".

I've got to eventually get some new rubber for my '70 Monaco Brougham 4dr ht, so always interested in sources of the correct item.

As a side issue, might need to make sure the door windows are adjusted correctly when the new weatherstrip is installed, IF the friction of the glass/chrome trim against the old weatherstirp abraded it. BUT there might not be a way around that, particularly on the chrome strip on the front of the rear door glass (which rubbed through the weatherstrip on the lh side on my Monaco, but not on the rh side). On a '71 4dr ht Fury III, that car had a thin plastic shield over the weatherstrip (looked like it came that way!!) in that area. FWIW

Just some thoughts,

FWIW I recently weatherstripped both of my door windows along the top with 3/4" wide roll off tape weatherstripping from Ace Hardware, and it does very nicely. I concur if one can find OEM weatherstripping for a reasonable price, it should be better for longevity, but I must say this foam stuff works quite well for ~$6.50 for a roll of 8' or so.

Check out Steele Rubber, if they dont have the correct molded pieces they will have roll stock that you can usually match up and make sure for your application. Also, if the 2 door is the same but different lengths maybe you can cut and use what you need to complete.
