When are you considered old?

When your body takes forever healing it self after you pull, strain, threw out something

Last week or so, i rolled my wrist and my tennis elbow flaired up (i was using an iron rake)

Happy Birthday!
I think 45 is the number at the top of the hill. Now at 53 I'm picking up some speed, so look out you old guys at the bottom I'm coming in hot.

like they say, age is just a number...besides...maybe you should have a -66 Chrysler like I do, it keeps you a young (..I hope..)!
Anyway, happy birthday!
Regards,
Mika

Sage advice from CHRYSLER! I was in 7th grade when we bought out '66 Newport Town Sedan with 7100 miles on it, just after the new '67s came out. We still have the car. I still like it, too. Many memories in that car. Good times.

Remembering those things, almost like they were "yesterday" or "last week" still happens as I look forward to more good memories in the future.

Reality and age? Physical age is one thing. Which can be tempered by how old or young your "hormone" levels will let you feel. After I turned 50, I later noticed that I was procrastinating more. Even to jack the car up ad change the oil . . . just put another quart in it and do it later, which happened more than not. Started looking for "testosterone potentiators" rather than shots (which were questionable at the time). Found some and the difference was markedly better. NOT just in the "things", but in a total outlook on life. Now, not everybody's the same chemically, BUT getting the hormone levels returned to when you were 35 or so CAN be an option, which is a better option now than 17 years ago.

Congrats on your advancing time on this planet! Remember what was good and magnify on that. Remember what might not have been and seek to minimize that. Stay healthy via natural means so that you keep the pharmaceutical operatives at arm's length, UNLESS you really need them.

Congrats and enjoy!

So what do you guy's think, at what age are you old? I just turned 50 today so am I actually old now to go with my old man with a hat status? When I was in my teen's I thought 50 was old, but now that I am 50, 85 or 90 looks old.
Is it just a matter of your only as old as you feel? Any thoughts?
I am 19. To me old is a state of being. My uncle Larry is 82 years old, but he is not old. He is quick to crack a good joke, and will play beachball with us in the pool during July 4th. He has a young state of mind. My great grandma on the other hand is 94 years old. Everybody thinks she is old as dirt, even though she carries laundry up the stairs and is in better shape than some 50 year olds. However, she is the typical old lady. She has a permanent, watches the news endlessly, and complains about how terrible the world is. How old you are (I think) is mostly made up of how you act. Near the end of any persons life, they may seem frail. Unless you have dementia, you can fight off being old.

50.....? Hell, your not even old enough to get senior discounts.
Happy birthday by the way.

Henry Ford once said "It takes 40 years to gather the tools of life".

I'm coming up on 73 and still pretty active. Young enough to enjoy some of the wisdom I've gathered.
My thought is if I get to the point where I have to be cared for, it's time to throw in the towel.

Work sure can age you. Fortunately two weeks ago I put a stop to that.
I feel like I’m 18 again just getting out of school.
Cue-up Alice Cooper!

I felt pretty darn good 4 years ago on my 50th.
This year arthritis really hit me right knee & fingers.
But I work in a warehouse; just keep active man.

Your getting old when you start thinking, 'I gotta put up with this **** for another decade or two?'.

65 next month for me. Old is more of a state of mind, but getting up to pee in the middle of the night does remind you that you aren't getting any younger.

I am more alive now at 51 than I was 25 years ago.
Back then I had no money, slept on my mums couch, was single, worked minimum wage and drove a 250.00 rust-bucket.

Today i have worked hard to be where I am now despite falling asleep by 9 or 10 and having to pee in the middle of the night, and being told to take a nap if I am grumpy.
I got out of a marriage which was affecting my health both mentally and physically, sold the house and got out of debt.

I am now with Maggie whom I truly love and we are both very happy together.
We both laugh and joke and poke fun at each other like kids.
We both support each other's passions--mine car-hers pet rescue.
( We have 5 dogs.)

So you are only old as you feel.

Turning 30 next year, so I might be one of the youngest on this board but I started quoting Bruce Willis a couple of years ago,, I'm too old for that **** " just for fun... Now most of the time I really mean it:D
That's Danny Glover from the Lethal Weapon movies, not Bruce Willis. :poke:

Happy Birthday!

Don't think about your age. Take care of your health / fitness and make sure you get a good, solid night's rest. Me? I still feel like I did when I was in my late 20s and I am now in my early 60s. Appearance wise, most everyone thinks that I am a lot older than my chronological age and this has always been the case for me.

My doctor told me that your life expectancy is one year once you hit 80 years old; and one year more every year thereafter if you make it to your next birthday.

Just think of each day as a gift. We are not gaurenteed tomorrow. Count your blessings. I think the years started going by a little quicker when I hit 45. That was 12 years ago. I have an arthritic right hip but I still hit the ice at least once a week to play hockey. Amazingly that doesn't bother my hip, I think it actually helps. I'm still able to work on cars although a lift would be nice. My job involves a lot of walking and stairs so that keeps things moving. I figure I'll be working at least 10 more years or so. I have a wife and 4 kids (and 4 cats) who love me so it's a good life. It does go by quick so be sure to make the most of it.

When I stopped in to pay my car insurance a couple of weeks ago, I was asked if I received anything for AARP yet. At that time I hadn't, but last week a application letter came in the mail. The whole reason she asked is with AARP membership I can get a discount on my car insurance. So I guess I will be sending them my $16 dollars and the application, She figures I can save up to $200 a year.

By the way 65sporty ,I forgot to say Happy Birthday!!

Not often you hear such common sense coming from a young person. I'm currently 64 and momentarily felt old several years ago one morning when I looked in the mirror and almost didn't recognise the the white haired chicken neck looking back at me but I'm still able able to snap out of it. What helps most is having a loving wife. It also helps when I visit my 91 year old uncle who several times a day bodily lifts his paralysed wife between her bed and chair and the washroom. They are both happy as clams not complaining about their lot in life. He often says that when he was young he would have been happy to make 75 so this is a bonus.
