Driving music suggestions?

I'm pretty damn cheap on many things. AM and FM has worked for me for decades, but my sons both have Sirius in their cars, and they like it a lot. When traveling, I can see a definite advantage to satellite. Local FM is good, but their playlists are so predictable. You can almost set your watch by what they play. Bob Seger, must be a little after ten. Or twelve. Might be three. Like I said, almost.

My new-to-me '14 VW has satellite, of course, on subscription. Might have to finally get it.

Our oldies stations play the same 40 tunes over and over.
60s on 6 plays a lot of stuff big in other parts of the country never played here.
Lot of neat 60s Jersey music we didn’t hear back then.

I've always loved this song! It just so happened that this song hit the airwaves the same week that I went in to take my driver's road test and got my license.

I am the same way, just driving my classics, with or without the tunes, is one of my favorite pleasures. I like mostly rock, everything from 50's rock 'n' roll, through 60's psychedelic, 70's "prog" rock, hard rock and 80's metal. I do like several songs that were released over the past 25 years too, though.

I find that lately I seem to have the tunes on more when I grab a coffee at the driv-thru and park there to drink it, rather than when I'm actually driving. Usually a lot of interesting rides will roll in while I'm there.

@Kp1226 I just heard this one tonight. I thought I'd share it as I love a good cover. Personally, I think I like the original better, but not by much. I think Clutch did a damn good job with it

I'm waiting to see if anyone mentions a one hit wonder.
I won't listen to commercial music stations around home. They all play the same songs every day. As mentioned you can almost set your watch by them.
And they play the same few groups as if no one else exists.

Yes they do. I never realized that until I started working in a way that I can listen to the radio all day, every day. Now I only listen to talk radio during the work day. Then it's youtube or iheartradio to get some actual music.

If you can listen to"Jessica" by the Allman Brothers without stickin' your toenailz in the fan, your earz are completely shot. First time I heard that tone I waz on ah run to the Circle City from Ditrit and I found that I waz on my way to the Windy by the end of it and damn near to the Indiana line. Went rite past the I-69 south bound flip, Jer

Then why not give credit where it is due???
I am sick of people making big money the easy way from our ancestors,,,kinda like the new Challengers,Camaros, and Mustangs etc....no one seems to have ideas themselves anymore.
