1966 CHRYSLER IMPERIAL

:wideyed:That IS the one to buy if your shopping for a ‘66 Coupe period, end of sentence!

Nicest '66 Crown Coupe I have seen in quite a long time, Turbine Bronze no less...... Not sure the wheelcovers are correct, but that's very easily remedied, but at least they're Imperial covers.....

Pricing seems little ambitious, but not truly out of line. Good thing I haven't applied for that credit line yet...…….

That does look very nice. Looks in very good condition cosmetically.
It would be difficult to get others in less pristine condition to that level for $19,500. It is the internet though and should be inspected in person. But I like what I see.

Very Nice ! Don't know what made it "special order" .It has a custom Embossed spare tire cover. I have never seen that before.

I am not so familiar with the 66 Imperials. In terms of "special order" I was wondering whether the rear package tray looks like most dual a/c cars appeared - no vents that swivel up or anything special? What I am wondering is whether dual a/c was a regular production option in 1966 in an Imperial coupe?

i think the seller is mixing up a rear defogger with rear air cond.
the switch for the rear a/c and rear defogger is the same, the switch says rear air for both applications.
if it has rear a/c it will have 2 rectangular pop up vents.
rear defogger has long narrow nearly flush vent, which is what i see in the pic of the rear parcel shelf.
turbine bronze wasnt a standard imperial colour but it could be ordered so that is what i guess the special order refers to.

I am used to the power seat adjuster on the side of the driver side bucket seat, so what is this seat adjustment knob seemingly coming out from under the front of the front seat cushion?

This car overall is probably the most impressive 66 Imperial I have ever seen. Just beautiful from every angle and aspect.

Good question Steve.

That is weird... my '67 has power on both sides and the buttons are on the sides.
As far as the rear a.c. goes, it looks like there is a "tee" in the a.c. lines right near the cruise control, also a rear air knob on the dash. A '67 Imperial I had a long time ago was fitted with rear air, there wasn't any special pop up vents. They were pretty much flush and looked like the ones from the basic defroster option. In the trunk was the big difference. Huge second evaporator, fan etc. under the package tray. Wish he had a better pic of the trunk.

Was rear ac available in the coupe?

Maybe the original switch quit working and they just plugged a working unit in under the seat.

that is the proper power seat switch for a 66 imp coupe.
the passenger seat has the reclining seat back with back/headrest that can be raised, the driver side doesnt

rear a/c was available in 66 imps.
and the 66 turbine bronze car has 62 "sombrero" wheel covers which i think look nicer than the 66 ones ( heres some 62 caps on my 64 parts car)

If that is the case, it would be a real turn off to a prospective buyer since it would suggest other problems were dealt with poorly.

But as Marko pointed out that’s the proper position for the seat control switches for a ‘66.
