Hi everyone, my name is Dustin, from southern central PA but currently reside southwest of Pittsburgh. So I’ve always been a Chevy guy (Dad is a Chevy guy) and I’ve owned well Over 40 GM products but I’ve never had anything really nice, I had several kind of nice 10 footers though. So a couple years ago I started a family and I sold a K10, an S10 with a mild 350 and my 82 c10. I paid off bills and said I would buy something later. So I’ve been saving for a 50’s 3100 Chevy and was looking but kept thinking about how only one of us could really go on trips with dad in his bucket seat truck when I was a kid. So I decided to give up on a truck dream and look for a family ride. I came across the the 300 on FB marketplace and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Honestly I don’t think I’ve ever even looked at a classic Mopar sedan as an option. I went and looked at it and I was sold. Bought it the same day, 2 Saturdays ago and been driving the hell out of it. I’m really enjoying that I can load the family in the car a go cruise. Someday I’ll get my truck though.

It has a little rust on the bottom of the doors and rear quarter panels, but the floors and the rest of the car is solid. 65k on the odometer, 3rd owner I Think, has the certacard under the hood. I’m learning, that’s why I’m here, heat works but I need to manually actuate it under the dash as the button do not change anything ( been watching some utube vids on that). This winter I am going to learn, tinker with some small items and make a plan for the spring.

Going to be researching updating the front suspension, tightening it up. Disc brakes up front and all new lines and e-brake cable. (Been researching disc brake kits from I think his name is Ramman, he puts together factory kits with newer c body spindles and also the kits from BBS). I will have some other questions along the way. Good to meet you all here are some pictures

Great smile on your face!! Start that boy off right in a Chrysler....lol. beautiful 300!
Have fun and welcome to the fold!!

I love the 66 300's! When i was like 8, we had yellow/ black convert. My dad swapped it in on a 4dr 68 because family was growing. I missed that car like crazy! Guess i was born a c-body junkie! That is a Great Ride!

Nice looking car! 1966 was a good year for Chryslers in general.

Welcome and ENJOY!

Love the ‘66s, they’re my favorite year for the 300 and yours is no exception!

Welcome, nice car! Like the Corvan too.

This may help with the heater switch. How To Rebuild a Vacuum Heater Control Switch

The Ram Man has just come out with a C-Body disc conversion that looks decent, you can also do it using used factory parts with a little scrounging. Either way should be good. IMHO, stay away from the Scare Bird conversion as we've seen some failures.

The front suspension on those cars are pretty decent. Modern shocks and new bushings/ball joints/tie rod ends (if the old stuff is worn) will probably do the most. I don't like to see larger torsion bars installed without doing the same at the rear springs as stiffening the front will make an already understeering car understeer even worse if pushed. It ruins the ride too.

I'm glad to see that you bought a car the family could enjoy and learn to appreciate. I sold a challenger to buy my 68 NYer so that the family could be together. Great picture of the two of you.

Welcome, nice car! Why would anybody paint a A/C compressor & oil cap turquois and not a power steering pump black?

Because they didn’t pull the power steering pump off last time they removed the intake.
