It’s a neat little French place now and is pretty darn good. Today the boss said let’s go back for breakfast/lunch and so back we went. Funny how much stuff from old TV & movies is around here to see.

Took these two pics yesterday, the same guy owns both properties and it’s a half mile stretch right out of 1969.

Mr. Weaver did just fine. He lived...

Great movie, and a great foreshadow to how great a film maker Speilberg would become!

Except he didn’t understand that in real life the Leaning Tower of Power coulda outran that crappy truck ! Must’ve confused that Dart w a pinto Lol!!!

Great flick!! I have the Special Edition DVD. According to the special features, all of the different license plates on the front of the Semi were supposed to be from the cars he had previously killed. OK.... I never found myself thinking that as many a Semi has different plates for the states that have been apportioned to drive through. But, if that was the intention, so be it.

Another thing: when the truck/trailer goes down the hill in a cloud of smoke, the trailer reappearing through the dust was not expected. Spielberg was so enamored by that he included a similar effect in Jaws at the death of the Great White. You can see the tail coming through the cloud of blood. Again, that according to the special features....

Great Movie, but the wife hates it. I watch it when she is traveling.

I never saw Dual from the beginning, I'm going to have to watch it.

There's another insane-trucker-killer movie I saw a few years ago called Joyride. I remember the guys drove a Chrysler so I just looked it up and saw it was a 71 Chrysler Newport. Even as an adult that movie gave me the heebee jeebees

Paul Walker was in that. The car was worth watching, though.

Me and a friend got chased around by some crazy guy one night. This was in 1987 and we were just 16 -- young and easily freaked out. It started out with just some racing and fooling around but I this guy must've been kind of nuts and he kept following us. He'd blow through stop signs and red lights to keep up with us. At one point we lost him and pulled over in a parking lot to catch our breath. Startlingly he found us and tried to corner us. We were in my grandfather's 71 Mercury Marquis and I was prepared to push right through the guy but was able to squeeze past him and finally gave him the slip. Left us both shaken and I think that's why this Joyride movie creeps me out even today.

That Mercury had a 429 that was pretty potent but I remember it started to loose it's umph as we were tossing around the side streets, probably because it was starting to overheat, just like that Dart!

Man, I haven't thought about that night in years!

I think that's what makes Duel, and Joyride and similar movies so watchable. Many of us have been in that position out on the highway before. My wife and I ran across a psycho couple in a Mazda pick-up driving through BC on highway 1 through the Fraser Canyon. At one point I thought he was going to ram us, and at another it looked like his wife was gonna throw something, or shoot something? Got us freaked the hell out, and it went on for miles. We were driving a lowered shortbox GMC pick-up and eventually I put the hammer down and drove the wheels off of it for about 5 miles straight to get some distance between us...then dove into the Hell's Gate tram parking lot, and hooked back behind a few other cars and waited for them to go by.

A few minutes later they did go by, still lookin all crazy. We walked around for about 10 minutes to calm down and then carried on. We saw them about 30 miles down the highway, pulled over with a cop writing them a ticket.

I honked and waved.

"You okay mister", a quote, (pretty close at least) from the movie, after he drives through the fence in front of the diner.

I thought everyone liked Paul? Not a good enough actor for you? Should have some respect for the dead, regardless.

Duel is a great movie, and certainly inspired Joyride, another great movie, just don't watch the second or third. They're not nearly as good, more along the gore side of things than thrilling.

I don't dislike him, alive or dead, but he wasn't the greatest actor, and Joyride wasn't written by a team of award winning writers. That's not Paul's fault, but he didn't make it any better.

Nope... no need to show respect for the pedophile... I only wish he got to enjoy the court of public opinion while he was alive, and maybe a little time enjoying Cali criminal charges for his proclivity for dating 16 year old children.

None the less, I enjoyed "Joy Ride", my favorite actor was Ted Levine as the voice of Rusty Nail.

Well, I had to look into that. It does appear that Paul made some bad decisions in his time. Too bad, if not for these indiscretions, he would have left us with what would seem like a very good record.

There's always more going on behind the scenes.

I find it sickening that there seems to be a new case on the news weekly, usually a teacher or some other "trusted adult"... just one of many reasons why I seldom watch the news. Another recent one seems to be new guidelines surrounding the word "lynching".
