Remember Slot Cars??

LOL I still have one of these in yellow!

This is about the speed[or mine a little slower] of the cars I ran the other day. Still fast. This is a novice class race. All the same motors.

The speed of today’s cars require some banked turns to really let em fly. The flat tight turns separate the men from the boys.

Here is a 50 year old HO track just restored and set up at a local stop near me. Havent been but the place looks amazing.

Here are my cars I have been carrying around for years, they are built using 1/24 scale model bodies. There is a a track down the highway about 10 miles away. I really should go and check it out one day.

Well I found slot car heaven at Modelville Hobby in Ashland MA. This track was made in 1965. There are 5 full 1/24 slot car tracks. An HO track and an HO dragstrip.

I had to bring this thread back from the archives....

A slot car track opened up near me a few months ago... I had to go in and I got bit again! Got my old (20 years) cars out and bought a couple more. Raced a couple times (got a 3rd place last time) and had my youngest son with my 12 year old grandson racing last Saturday night.

My grandson (white tee shirt, long black hair) buzzing his car around.

My drag car.

Cool stuff!!!! Looks like some nice tracks. Love the drag strip!!

I see that. That track unfortunately closed down after one year. A shame.

Unfortunately, they are more a labor of love and a hobby for the guys that own these tracks. I know the guys that own this place and as they told me, they are just happy if they can pay the rent.

This track came from a place that closed. I believe it was in the Hudson Valley.

I want to see some pics of your drag slot car Big John.

It's a 20+ year old DRS chassis that I soldered up back then. Group 12 motor with a JoHan '64 Dodge model car body that I built many years ago. Fastest it's gone is .795 ET at 40 MPH in the 1/8th. The motor is a little tired, but it's still fun.

Spent a lot of summer rainy days at Tiny Tims Hobby on Woodward as a kid.
I was cruisin Woodward at an early age.
I just might build one of these tracks in the basement once I get the train layout up and running.

Wow, I seem to have completely missed slot cars, they look like an addicting hobby.

Check out the new digital sets. Highly detailed cars with lights, working brake lights and faster than ever.

Here is a pic of 4 1/24 scale cars I ran back around 1968. I still have them today, I haven't run them in years. I do have some Scalextric and Carreras in 1/32 scale that I occasionally run w/ a few of my car collector friends as seen below.
