I've got a customer that needs to have his BUDD disc brake, 4 piston calipers sleeved.

I know there are a few companies out there in the USA that do this type of work.

Anybody here have theirs done, and what company did you use?

Any recommendations, as to one company over another?

Thank's a lot.

These guys do it...I plan on using them for my 68 when the time comes. A good option for me up here in Canada. It should be even easier in the States.

Auto Disc Brake Caliper Rebuilders - John Stuart Power Brake - Canada, GTA, Hamilton, Brakes, Steering, rebuild, remanufacture, water, vacuum, pump

No, Canada companies are out of the equation.
Mailing back and forth internationally would be a killer.

I'm certain there are others, but asking for references.

But appreciate the reference, in your reply.

I used these guys and luckily they are local to me. I did develope a leak over the winter months for 2 consecutive years on 1 caliper after I had them done that showed itself on the maiden voyage of the spring. Both times they fixed it but I had to remove it and drop it off for a couple of days so they could be fixed. That was a pita and I wasn’t pleased but it didn’t happen this past year.
He was baffled because they put them through strenuous testing after they rebuild them and they always passed of course.

For general principles, you might pose this question to some Corvette people. Reason is that the Corvettes used a 4-piston caliper until about the 1981 model year, so they had this issue for many years. As I recall, the Corvettes were the first application for the stainless steel sleeved calipers. Might not be Chrysler/Budd specific, but the principle is the same. Seems like that's where Stainless Steel Brakes got their start?

Just some thoughts,

White Post Restorations, in Virginia is well regarded, I think they brass sleeve them. They were one of the first to start doing this (from what I'm told), and are quite knowledgeable.

Come to find out that Rock Auto sells rebuilt BUDD disc brake calipers at $125.00, with the core charge included.
How the hell can they sell them that cheap?
Finding sleeving charges are in the $60.00 - $80.00 per hole, to perform that type of work.
Then there is the price of kits, how many pistons need to be replaced, and then my labor charge to custom rebuild a pair of calipers for my client.
There is no way that i can compete with that Chinaesum price.
Just cheaper to buy whatever Rock Auto is selling and just be done with it all, from the get go, and buy out of the box rebuilt parts.

I bought a pair from Rock and put them on the green coupe that I flipped earlier this year and had no immediate issues.
