Fiat-Chrysler=PSA merger

Deals are funny. All going well, and them boom. it all falls apart. Time will tell I guess

Why they are considering it? Do it or die .. eventually. IMHO, I dont see a bright future for either of these two companies alone. Makes sense they'd try to see if it could work.

Cars are a scale-economy business, in the middle of a technological (alternative propulsion plus self-driving) transition unlike anytime in the century-plus old history of the industry. It'll take deep pockets and strong brands, plus scale, to continue playing.

Fun times in the car biz, or terrifying .. depends on perspective. Im too old to go back .. just living vicariously watching them all trying to navigate their issues.

Don't know if this will help or hurt the Chrysler/Dodge brands, as they are North American only. But then PSA brands Opel, Peugeot, Citroen, Vauxhall are not in the US. But as with the Fiat/Chrysler merger they tried to force feed the Fiats to the US market without much success. But it really it boils down to the fact that millennials and younger have a growing disinterest in driving. They will embrace autonomous cars so they can stay glued to their phones. The automobile business will dramatically change in the next 10 years and I believe less than have of the current brand names will survive.

Not likely to have any dramatic affect on North America. There are definite savings in increasing economies of scale but I am not happy about the French Government being so invested...

I wonder if it's Jeep and Tam that stays and the rest gets cut. It doesn't sound like the formation of a company that will want more than the profitable stuff.

I think we can all agree, the Chrysler 300, Charger and Challenger days are numbered. Rams and Jeeps are the only really profitable vehicles sold here in the US now by FCA.

Challenger sales remain strong. Over 20 thousand units ahead of the Camaro & out sold the Mustang in the 3rd qtr. 15 thousand units behind the Mustang year to date. The Mustang & Camaro are declining every year. The Challenger has remained in the 50-55 thousand area for several years now. The Charger outsells the Challenger but largely from fleet sales & its competition the Ford Fusion & Chevy Impala have already bit the dust so the Charger should get a boost in sale from that. The 300 is the car that’s puzzling. It’s a strong car in its class yet sales are poor. It’s likely to get the ax.

I hope this won't create such ingenious badge Engineerings like back in the old days as

and Nash Metropolitan. You 'll get the Picture :D

Oh I had no idea, yeah 50 000 units a month is respectable numbers. That's on par with what the Ram sells
