The horror of living across the street from a demolition derbier

A derby of "Rice Burners" (Jap Junk) would be Ok in my book. Just Sayin !

I broke the ice and spoke to my neighbor while getting the mail. UGH!
They are pretty effin car ignorant and could not care less about old cars. There is zero effort to salvage or save anything they strip off their Derby candidates. It is all smash, rip, tear, bend, cut and then dump in the landfill.

I tried to give them some understanding that they could make money off of parts. Pulling things out which could be reused...
I kinda a saw a glimmer in his eye that there could be $$ in that.

He had no idea a 383 motor in the VIP was a sought after motor.
He also really likes wagon and asked if it was a Vista Cruiser. *facepalm*

UGH!

Unfortunately this appears to be the Mentality of Most Derbiers.I could go on but I will not.

Check out U tube demo derbies in Minnesota They have heats with nothing but Imps!! That's how they get around the NO IMP law. Lots of sixties up to the 70s It hurts to watch, But boy do they take a beating!!

Maybe convince them to run 70s era Ford LTDs instead of Mopars?

Spoke to my neighbor last night. With cold weather now here, the '69 Fury VIP will just be sitting in their backyard until spring. IF ANYONE wants to come salvage any bits off it, he said they are open to a collector coming on over and removing them themselves. Otherwise, the parts will get ripped/torn/cut off in the spring.

This is in Westminster MD. On the old car condition scale of 1-6, it is a 2.

Message me your contact info and I will hand it off and get theirs to relay.

See what a little perseverance gets ya, maybe now some parts can go back down the road instead of getting crushed like Christine.
